As unusual as I agree it is to refer to a Hollywood studio client monitor "Reference" this is how Panasonic's professional monitors are commonly and exclusively called.

Studios and post production houses us the words Client Reference when speaking about Panasonic's specially designed and built Hollywood's professional monitor. Vincent also refers to the Panasonic OLED displays we're selling in the USA as Client Reference.

Here's a picture from Sirius Pixels, a well respected post production house where they only recommend Panasonics USA OLED monitors for the client reference monitor:

That’s marketing . I’m talking about how people actually working in the room in day-to-day speak actually refer to review (client) monitors. The only time I’ve ever heard someone (colorist or calibrator) say a ‘client reference’ monitor with regards to a specific brand is when they’ve had one of these for that use – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post18467885 because of its superb inherent features.

And with regards to Stefan and Co3 who they’ve included in that link as a testimonial to the quality of the respective Panasonic OLED, of which I don’t disagree , readers might recall I’m a bit familiar with the nuances of that Santa Monica location….at least during pre-pandemic times - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post18458578

P.S.
And with regards to marketing, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone who works in a color or edit bay suddenly appears on some upcoming YouTube now referring to said Panasonic monitor as a ‘client reference monitor’. Cripes, it’s a matter of expediency, for example as an analogy, when my wife comes home from working in the ICU with COVID patients at the hospital, she doesn’t say ‘ventilator’, she says we had to place this or that patient on a ‘vent’.

Penton Man, I understand and agree in principal, but this distinguished title that is reserved for the specially designed and built as Hollywood's professional OLED displays are widely used and referred to by many professionals as a client reference monitor.

I am not saying Panasonic's OLED monitors are made for color grading, but they are in a class onto themselves and are used in studios and post production where the best possible picture quality is demanded. I wish you lived closer to our showroom so I can demonstrate these OLED displays so you can see the exceptional detail and image quality these TVs deliver. Until I saw them for myself I wondered what can be done to further improve the picture performance of the 2020 OLED TVs.

Here's an interesting 2018 article from Display Daily where they refer to Panasonic's Hollywood OLED display as the "Client Reference Monitor"
Panasonic Keeps OLED for Studios in the US

Display Daily is the publication of the Society of Information of Display. SID is recognized as the highest authority on video display technology. My friend Dr. Larry Weber, inventor of the plasma TV is one of the founding members.

Well I’ve got to give an A+ for marketing to you, Vincent and Larry (who I actually fondly referred to in a pic somewhere in past pages of the HDR Discussion thread during a past SID Display Week looking on as Dr. Helge Seetzen[Brightside Technologies HDR fame] was speaking.

Look, as I've clearly stated in the HDR thread, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the Panasonic OLEDs which you are selling and all the accolades are well deserved as I’ve already seen them in action; however, I’m simply saying that I’ve never heard ‘boots on the ground’, be it colorists or calibrators refer to them as ‘client reference monitors’.

The only time I’ve ever heard that phrase used was for this - https://flandersscientific.com/XM551U/ (compare the features and functionality) which, like the Pannys you’re selling, should only be used as a client or review monitor, which at least one H’wood facility does, and not for grading…..anything beyond maybe corporate or online level work, that is.

And you remember that mesmerizing imagery of the girl swinging back and worth in the background, some (not I) have questioned whether that contained some sort of ‘Buy a TV at Value Electronics’ subliminal messaging (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS_kKbIL4dY#t=2m50s).
