Vincent should have his own technical video thread here, @ forum.blu-ray dot com ... sticky.

He should. Maybe Robert can convince him to come back to these boards

Understandable limited participation of course. Answering the odd question in a professional manner.

Maybe drum up some future calibration business.

But then blu-ray.com will be accused of being a shill for Vincent who is a shill for LG.

I’m thinking lyris would have a better chance at doing that, for Robert’s video on the A90J, at least the last hour or so, was idolatry of D-Nice : https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...o#post18711836

Mr. Micky Mouse gloves is regurgitating the "EVO" panel non-sense in the comment section. The LG G1 and Sony A90J are using the same panel.

That’s not the difference it’s the heat sink that the Sony and panasonic use the lg does
not therefore it’s not as bright.

Yep and it's really stupid of LG to not go heat sink route.

Feels like a brand new F1 car with a speed limiter of 100 mph when it's actually capable of doing more.

Possibility LG didn't implement due to a parts shortage caused by the on going circumstances?

My bet is they couldn't justify the extra expense, as well as the heatsink adding weight that might work against their apparent insistence on wall mounting the G1.

I thought they advertised the G1 as being 20% brighter at CES when it is not.

The Sony A90J is definitely brighter but only in non-accurate modes. Once it’s calibrated and set to accurate settings, it drops to ~750 - ~800 nits, which is basically the same as the G1, even though the G1 does not have a heat sink.

In the brighter modes, the A90J does not track EOTF well and there is some severe color shift. So it can definitely get brighter but it will not look accurate or close to the creators’ intent.

I am still waiting to see how color volume compares between both the G1 and A90J.

I also read that the real world peak brightness is higher than the test patterns.and based on what I am reading at AVSForum, A90J is noticeably brighter when compared to the other OLEDs. Personally I am not happy as it doesn't come in 77 inches. 83 is way too expensive and my Panasonic 65 GZ OLED is already looking smaller lol.

Yeah I am hoping they will release an OLED with a heat sink next year and get brighter without sacrificing accuracy. I am wondering though, maybe they realized that even with the heat sink the brightness would not be worth it given how inaccurate it gets? Because now it has been basically verified that the Sony uses both the Evo panel as well as the heat sink, end even with both it caps around +-800 nits if you want accuracy. Anything brighter than that it gets pretty inaccurate. Maybe LG realized that and decided the cost and added weight and depth would not be worth it because of that.
