Good to hear. I picked up a C1 a couple months ago and the vertical banding is terrible. I'm considering contacting LG for a panel replacement, I just don't know how long to wait to see if it goes away.

Are they lying? Or they simply forgive the small glitches and imperfections?

Anyway better having glitches from OLED (including burn-in capability) than glitches from LED.
And LED is full of it.

It doesn't matter how great the LG G2 is. Most of their panels are very bad quality with tons of tinting, banding, vignetting etc. Reviewers somehow never get the bad panels or always opt for the cheapest small size panels which have best uniformity. WOLED is dead AFAIK.

That's one of the reasons I stopped believing OLED reviews.

The same thing happens with UltraHD movies. You just have to look at the reviews of The Godfather, which give it maximum marks when in reality it is a bad edition

In fact, for me the most important factor of image quality in Woled is uniformity, and until I get it perfectly, I return as many panels as necessary.

Glad that they are entering the OLED ring but doubt I will ever buy one. I know LG and Sony are the kings of OLED in the US. The amazing new restoration of The Godfather looks amazing on my C1.

Regarding screen uniformity; this is the best year I've seen for all LG, Sony WRGB OLED TVs and Samsung's new S95K QD OLED TVs.

All OLED TV and even LCD/LED panels are not perfect, but the 2022 models are performing better than all previous years.

Did LG somehow magically replaced manufacturing process between the C1/G1 and C2/G2 models? If not then I seriously doubt any such statements. Every year it's the same; the models of this year are the best. That's nonsense. So far only the S95B has been proven to be a very clean panel.

I can vouch that they get better every year. I’m good with my C1 for a few more years though, can’t imagine how good OLEDS will be in 2024.

And I can attest that no, they do not improve year after year. Also, there was a clear pullback from 2019 to 2020 and 2021 in terms of panel uniformity.

I have tested dozens of Woled panels and uniformity issues were the common denominator for brands like LG.

Banding, tints and dark areas in contrast to the rest of the screen, which is a problem that makes you lose detail in the shadows.

In 2019, the panels I tested, mainly from Panasonic, were remarkably uniform, but it got worse from there.

For example, the year 2021 has been very hard in terms of uniformity in the 77-inch and 83-inch panels, which came out with many bands. A friend of mine returned 3 Sony 83 A90J's and several C1 77's and 83's, then finally gave up and had to stick with a banded unit because there was no way to get an OLED of that size without banding.

This is a very serious and very serious problem in OLED panels that very negatively affects image quality.

I myself have two Panasonics that are fine, and a C1 that is fine, without banding or tinting, but the left area of the screen is a bit
darker, so I have less shadow detail in that area than the rest. If it is something minor, you can accept it, but I have seen truly grotesque cases.

And that without going into assessing problems such as the overshoot that Teoh comments

If the new OLEDs solve this serious problem, the evolution will be enormous, otherwise, we will continue rowing in galleys.

However, if you put it all on the scale, the best LEDs, like
the ZD9 or the DX902, still experience more serious problems as a result of the backlight, which in the end is a dynamic contrast algorithm that modifies the image parameters based on established calculations that are not infallible and that cause all kinds of alterations and artifacts.

I have a new G2 and I am not experiencing any of that.
In fact- it’s 77 inches and looks outstanding.
Even crappy streams look very good.
Do you own one?

The 77" ones were reported to have decent uniformity. Likely better QC. Have you tried a 65" LG OLED?
