Still the biggest tease that there's no DV, though. I'd be in for a 65" Samsung QD OLED with Dolby Vision. Take a chance on firmware. The 2022 model is 3K in my market currently (AUD)

I would buy ANY brand before Samsung Electronics TVs, even if it had DV

Bad software, no accuracy, forced processing...

Really, I would buy a chinese brand before Samsung

It's too bad Samsung always ruins some of their awesome panels with terrible processing.

Samsung lost me when all of their Blu-ray players started to be garbage. It was for the better of the format that they walked away.

I wonder which panel Sony will go with this year? Samsung’s QD-OLED, or LG’s MLA? Panasonic went with LG’s MLA for what it’s worth.

I'm kind of curious how they marketed their TVs before brightness and pop became selling points.

Brightness and pop has been amongst the top selling points of display equipments for ages as the average consumers iare attracted to it. Samsung are good at this and I doubt they will change this trend which is working well for them.

And their shady practices. I remember when I bought the F8500 Samsung plasma back in 2013. They promised to update the evolution kit for 5 years. The following year they no longer updated the evolution kit. Then 2 years after release of the tv, they stopped making replacement parts, so if your tv broke down under warranty, they would not fix it, and offered you a cheap Samsung LCD as a replacement instead. And you likely ended up having to go that route, unless you attached external fans to the back vents of the tv, because the heat sink was so poorly designed, that caps would melt on the boards, rendering the tv inoperable.

They'll go with BOTH. Like in 2022

The analog of the A95 series will be QD samsung display panels, the analogs of A90 and A80 step downs will be LG display panels.

LG's MLA numbers probably won't be as maximised on Sony processing/choices. So expect only just above 1000 nits on those. Hopefully with a heatsink. Even though I won't be biting, I want more manufacturers to do this on more sets

Yep. They're the number one TV brand in the world and have been for years, and are also one of the most valuable brands in the world full stop. They're great at marketing (unlike the doofuses at Sony who persist with abstract nonsense to this day) and they give the masses what they want.

Of course, definitely wouldn’t be as big a fan of oled if we couldn’t. Luckily I didn’t have to order a remote since I was able to do it with my Harmony remote.

I did it with my C1, probably the best thing I could've done for that TV. Some films/scenes become unbearable to watch with it on (The 'you're nothing to me' scene in Godfather II and the last 30 or so minutes of Dune 2021 are my go to examples of this). I'd recommend it if you're careful not to leave anything static on the screen for too long as LG voids your warranty if they find you turned off ABSL in your TV's service log...but they'd have to be hellbent on finding a reason to not provide a repair/replacement under your warranty at that point.
