Just to get everyone back on track - we are talking about Vinegar Syndrome announcing they will be releasing a 3D Blu-ray/4K UHD horror title in November 2021. We don't know if the 3D Film Archive will be involved in this title although they probably will.

From the February 6 3D Film Archive Facebook broadcast:

Another Vinegar Syndrome title? – "stay tuned"
Flesh for Frankenstein? – "no"
Frankenstein’s Bloody Terror? – "will know in a few weeks"

So, we are guessing what the 3D horror title could be.

I personally would love for It to be either Spacehunter 3D or Starchaser 3D, and since the latter already has a 3D master it should be fairy easy endeavor to release.
Starchaser is my #1 wish, but it nor Spacehunter are horror.

Hope it’s not Rottweiler (Dogs Of War) that film is shockingly bad.

Frankenstein's Bloody Terror is supposed to be held up in some nightmare of copyright issues apparently. Be nice if it does turn out to be that after all

I have never seen Rottweiler especially not in 3-D but even if it's bad I still would like to see it get a 3-D Blu-Ray release. I want all Silver Age 3-D films to get a release!

Yeah! I get your point. I would rather have a good film in 3D though.

Flesh for Frankenstein 3D would be a perfect title for Vinegar Syndrome to release but I thought that was tied up with rights issues?

If I had to guess at this point I think it's Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (key word being "guess").

I don't think the "one of the genre's true cinematic landmarks" is in reference to the 3D, I think it's in reference to the movie. VS are hyperbole kings, and Frankenstein's Bloody Terror is the first time Paul Naschy appeared as The Wolfman aka Waldemar Daninsky. He went on to shoot numerous other movies using the same character, so it would fit the LANDMARK description if you're a fan of the genre. People in the VS thread were excited at the notion of a flat 4k transfer of this film as well

Secondly, and possibly more importantly, CODE RED had hinted that they were going to acquire this title. When I mentioned Frankenstein's Bloody Terror in the VS thread a week or two ago, a few users went into the CODE RED thread and asked Bill if VS had stolen it from under their noses. CR didn't respond to any of those posts, but responded to other inquires about other titles

Add in the 3DFA post (see CINERAMA post above) and there is a bit of smoke....

Soooooo..... does this mean Flesh for Frankenstein might be with VS after all?

It says pretty clearly that they will not be releasing Flesh for Frankenstein.

Yes, but SEVERIN posted that on FB as they're releasing Blood for Dracula 4k. Someone posted on facebook that this could confirm Vinegar Syndrome has Flesh for Frankenstein in November, and SEVERIN replied with "not sure that's correct".

This is obviously a guessing game, but is there any chance that 3DFA said no to Flesh because KINO has it? I'm assuming the Flesh question (see above) was asked in relation to working with Vinegar Syndrome but I could be wrong. I assume SERVERIN must have tried to license both (the fact they announced they're not releasing it shows that people would expect it), so someone must have it or it's not open for licensing.

Bob just today made this provocative statement in the Golden Age 3-D thread:

I wonder what this one is?

This appears to have been licensed by VS, not the 3DFA, so he's not referring to that. It must be another gem.

Well, it's definitely not Spacehunter or Mark of the Wolfman(since those were not shot on over/under 35mm). It's presumably not Flesh for Frankenstein or Treasure of the Four Crowns(since those have apparently already been licensed).

I hope the deal works out, whatever it is!

Have they been licensed, though? Just because Severin stated they will not be releasing Flesh for Frankenstein doesn't automatically mean that somebody else has. It might mean they're not interested in licensing it and have decided not to pursue it? Maybe they're not interested in paying money to restore the 3-D? Maybe as it stands, Flesh for Frankenstein has been licensed by nobody, and the 90-minute test is to show how good the 3-D could look?

I'm not sure Treasure of the Four Crowns is under license anymore. A statement made by the Kino Insider sounded like it was something they dropped. But, maybe now it's back on the table and the test involves that film?

I'm guessing the 3-D November release hinted at by Vinegar Syndrome is Frankenstein's Bloody Terror.
