Can anyone tell me if these cables are a bad choice for connecting HDR TV/Receiver/Player at a distance of over 15-20 feet? Any suggestions?

I think so, especially since it's royalty free. The question is if this layer will replace Dolby Vision or not.
I am waiting patiently for DaVinci Resolve to include HDR10+ support, they are usually pretty early. They had Dolby Vision support way before any disks came out. The difference is I will be able to master HDR10+ content on my own, while Dolby Vision is a boatload of licensing fees and hardware. |

I never confirmed that it would be added. Just that it was proposed and would be an optional layer. There's more than "it's royalty free" to consider when updating a technical spec.

My understanding is Monoprice and Blue Jeans are prem cert and are very affordable. Take a look at those before making your purchase. |

Ignoring Technicolor HDR, surely UHD BDs will be either
The downside is that this forces a choice between 2 and 3, instead of allowing 2 and 3 on the same disc. We were told that HDR10+ was backwards-compatible, but as covered earlier in the thread, it's very sadly not going to be possible to have HDR10+ as the base layer. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some people think that 2 will account for 90% of releases. Some think only a few. We've only had a few of that type slowly drip out so far, so it's far, far too early to predict with any certainty. Quote:
Vincent's HDR10+ video today shows a few things. First, several very rude idiots walking in front of the camera - breathtaking arrogance. Second, both TVs clearly say "HDR(PQ)" - so even on a TV which has the capability of HDR10+, they are still not telling the user it's HDR10+. ![]() I hope this changes in later firmwares. |

Although I’ve posted about HDR10+ and Technicolor HDR, especially most recently, as a reminder to full disclosure, I favor Dolby Vision’s approach and have gone on record as saying so, e.g. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post12192776 because among other things, scientifically, it is more technically elegant and future-proof.
But, keep in mind, we are all different and I’m picky about favoring a lot of things in life which the general public might not feel is needed for their purposes, e.g. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post10776283 Even when I relax - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post14022479 <- considering the expense. Anyway, I believe that competition makes all the HDR approaches better, in one way or another. |

According to the video's description, HDR10 is on the left, and HDR10+ is on the right.
The camera can't capture the dynamic range correctly, so it's not a great video by any means. There are some subtle differences in some of the scenes. It's shot in 4K though, so it's best viewed on a TV. |

Ah, I see. The one on the right looks more blown out in a lot of scenes BUT this is likely due to the brighter HDR10+ presentation blowing out the range of the camera, as you say.

Noticed some differences in the colors as well.
In some scenes, the HDR10+ pops more. In others, there's no extra pop, but it just looks different. Only the director and cinematographer can say which one is more accurate. Last edited by HeatEquation; 08-31-2017 at 09:27 PM. |

“This is the first generally available integrated circuit (IC) in the world to support MS12 v2.2 GA as well as Dolby Vision™, enabling OEMs across the globe to bring the latest in advanced audiovisual experiences to mainstream TVs.” Dolby was feeling a little left out with all this HDR10+ talk. ![]() |
