Survey just arrived that says 35% of Brits 'have a room in the home which they class as their home cinema.' I suppose that's in the same way that I class my bathroom as a spa.

I'm not trying to be funny, and yes I posted those videos.
And yes we don't have 4K Blu-rays yet in HDR10+, and yes we do have over sixty in Dolby Vision. And there is no war between the two, they love each other like two good business partners. ...With a touch of Dolby humor.

untrue :: HDR10+ (if/when it happens) clearly fragments the industry and consumers, not to mention the consumer confusion that it's created (i do not wish to argue this and fully understand the PR/politics of it all), this certainly not a fun/funny/sunny ..................

it might - be interesting to monitor for a few years just how this plays out and what is thought in three years (looking back)

Eh, I can barely perceive the difference between HDR10 and Dolby Vision. So, HDR10+ is utterly unnecessary.

I don't take this HDR life too seriously or I would be lost.
I too understand how various technologies try to survive in a world of dominance and control and superior flaws. We pick our poison and we adapt with the Ying and Yang.

It is up to the expert video calibrators and professional video reviewers to inform their readers with the truth behind our displays and what our eyes are seeing in an evolving real time frame. Professional shootouts help. We know some of the players to trust, and even them are not the masters of the HDR universe.

Things are happening daily, changes are happening, decisions are made, deals are signed, ...for the benefit of the planet and all its HDR viewers.

The best is yet to come ...

Second link has already been taken down.

First one might have happened, at a trade event to a few people who were allowed to see it - probably the only people ever to see HDR10+

I don't think it would cause that much damage.

HDR10+ is from what I gather, an enhancement layer on top of HDR10 much like DV, and from what we've seen of Dolby Vision, a sole dynamic metadata layer means an extra 100 MB worth of space on a disc - Which is absolutely negligible.

If HDR10+ is really as automated as it seems implied, it may not really be that difficult to just tick a box during authoring and have an extra 100 MB data layer thrown on there to support HDR10+...

But is there any really incentive for doing so? Can't answer that. As far as I'm concerned HDR10+ is just fake news and doesn't exist.

2 weeks time at London in WeHo, would be a good time for a progress note on HDR10+….

Key question: How are HDR tool sets for mastering and metrology evolving?
Potential topics
• Content Mastering
• Content Distribution & Blu-ray

Am I the only one that laughed at this question?

How and why will 8K TVs be adopted in the future?
Seems pretty obvious the answer to that will be A) forced upon the customer by phasing out 4K tv availability and B) to give another selling point by manufacturers as more and twice the number of Ks is better.

Dolby will be gracing UK cinemas with its HDR presence at last? I'd get excited but they've waited so long I can't be arsed. Better late than never I 'spose.

I've read the news this morning, it's good for the UK.
Next stop...Canada. But it could cost us more now.

No point getting excited. Typical press release - "seven sites" and zero details.
Six of them will be in bloody London village, and the other one will be in Aberdeen. Just wait and see.
And all that fuss and it's only 105 nits? Sorry but I'd rather watch at home with proper HDR

while that may be true, it is important to note that according to dolby, perceived brightness at constant nit value increases as screen size increases, so a 105 nit theater screen is going to appear a hell of a lot brighter than a 105 nit TV.

True, but there's a reason why even Dolby refers to 108-nit theatrical as EDR rather than HDR, it's extended rather than high dynamic range.
