We're right in the center of another weekend.
About a review of a HDR Blu-ray player/streamer; this BR universal player was released almost three years ago, and I saw it before on sale for only $199 Cdn. It's still going strong and it's very very very affordable (good thing in the world we live in today). This review is just in ... (March 9, 2022)

Anyway, during the discussions in that particular spring meeting, committee members expressed much skepticism about the value or need for having a TV capable of higher brightness and deeper black levels. The working party did not accept this objective based proposal (containing measurements, numbers, graphs) partly because there was not an appreciation that increased dynamic range would have value in a new TV system and partly because it was too new (visionary/revolutionary).

Soooo, 6 months later, Dolby provided another input document to the working party, this time which contained and described the subjective test results for viewer preference for white and black light levels. There were 34 study participants (among other things, who were classified into 3 age groups in order to approximate age-related effects of the human visual system <- a detail which I don't think has been mentioned in any of the online SMPTE presentations available to the public).

This later proposal was accepted and voilà….years later, we are where we are today.

That’s a better choice for personally I think your last recommendation - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...y#post19923464
is too much of a tear jerker given current events and especially because it was such a tragic miscalculation .

Re: ergonomic chairs, I like one of Concept Seating chairs - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post18415136 , specifically the 3150HR, but there are quite a few to choose from in different price ranges - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCMUJr8cp8Y#t=1s
Re: optometrist vs. ophthalmologist, as Robbie indicates, unless you’re simply getting refracted for glasses or contact lenses, best to get examined regularly by an ophthalmologist because they have more expertise in eye abnormalities involving structures posteriorly - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...a#post19780141 or anteriorly - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...m#post17221320
and everything in between.
Re: Kevin Shaw’s mountain bike and recommendations for mountain bikes to ride for exercise whether in California or on Waxlow Rd. in London, well, that’s a discussion for another day.
For the sake of those members who may someday be referred to said specialist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SFbJXoi58Q#t=9m25s as Jeff from the Colorist webinar may have been a little misled by the appointment staff at his local facility. I recently spoke to my friend Barry - https://www.faculty.uci.edu/profile.cfm?faculty_id=2230 , who is quite the accomplished one (biomedical engineering and retinal surgeon) and coincidentally we have spouses who share similar ethnicities .

So, Barry informs me that quite often a considerable wait (beyond the scheduled appointment time) for getting into the examining room to have a clinic visit with a retina ophthalmologist is usually not delayed due to him/her having to perform emergency retinal surgery, but rather is commonly due to the retina eye doctor needing (based on best clinical guidelines) to administer multiple unexpected eyeball therapeutic injections to more than one patient on an expedited basis on that day in their office. Each injection to each patient further backs up the schedule.

Anyway, reminder that this month’s iColorist Color Space Cadets panel discussion is planned to be on all things HDR. Meanwhile, if you’re on the International Colorist Academy mailing list, keep an eye out for spam e-mails, do not click on anything, just delete them.
