As has been widely reported, on July 30th, Voxx Corporation, parent company of Klipsch, announced that they had cut a deal for an “expanded alliance” with Onkyo, giving them exclusive rights to distribute their Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer, and Pioneer Elite brands in the United States. The genesis of this alliance was said to have been when, some months earlier, Onkyo became the Klipsch distributor in Japan.

Let me just add that until you see new Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer, and Pioneer Elite products being marketed and sold in Japan. Its pointless to discuss it for any other country/region.

You always being so cryptic I needed to dust off my PM decoder ring. I see dripline means HDR10+ in PM speak. Sorry. That’s dead. Time to move on.

The actual product designers are in Japan. 11 Trading Company will simply be responsible for bringing these products to the U.S. (not Pioneer themselves.) They are simply in the process of getting organized for the end of the ongoing crisis and should be back in business soon. Keep in mind that this is a relatively small company compared to the other companies making players, so it will take them a while.

Have you not seen my HDR10+ conversation with Geoff D on this thread?

I’m not being cryptic. I’m serious.
I’d thought you hung out there ^ more than in the tech threads.

Japan is where all their products originate as well are designed for, hence my last comment advising you to be watching Japanese online sites discussing current/new products for local consumers as a indicator of whether their products continue to be even manufactured or replaced. Good luck.

So, are there any discs that your machine won't play properly? If there are, ask other members with this machine if they are having the same problem with their [insert title here] disc.

The current model is still an amazing player (it just needs the HDR10+ update), but I would prefer if they released a new model with HDMI 2.1 and a Wi-Fi module with a rear antenna like the other "P" company's high-end machine. However, the UDP-LX500 is not listed at all on the U.S. site, and the "Blu-ray Disc" section on the top of the page is gone, probably temporarily, because if you scroll all the way to the bottom, the "Blu-ray Disc" section is still there but is blank. Interestingly, I have an account for the site and the UDP-LX500 is still on my wait list, but if I click on it, it boots me back to the home page.
Why would HDMI 2.1 be necessary for a blu ray player unless it's 8K?

This would enable RGB/4:4:4 upsampling for 60fps discs.

Every flat panel that offers both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ has HDMI 2.1 also. Also A/V receivers with HDR10+ uses HDMI 2.1 also. It seams to be harder to get HDR10+ to work on HDMI 2.0b, but Panasonic and Samsung were able to do it with their 4K Blu-ray players. But HDR10+ products normally require HDMI 2.1.

This is full of errors. You don’t need HDMI 2.1 for HDR10+. Not at all.

And that is why OPPO, Panasonic, and Samsung 4K Blu-ray players offer HDR10+ features without HDMI 2.1. And I mentioned that. However I have not seen a A/V receiver with HDMI 2.0b being able to pass HDR10+. Maybe its possible with a firmware update, however so far according to all the spec sheets I have seen, all the A/V receivers that offer HDR10+ passthrough also have HDMI 2.1.

Whilst true, in the case of Denon & Marantz their 2020 lineup are still HDMI 2.0b (except for the singular 40Gbps 2.1 port) offering the full suite of 2.1 features with HDR10+ & "Dynamic HDR" pass-through support which means they designed these particular 2.0b boards with HDR10+ support in mind unlike their previous models without the sufficient bandwidth.

Panasonic TVs have yet to embrace HDMI 2.1 save for a couple of features like eARC & ALLM but their TVs have supported both Dolby Vision & HDR10+ for a couple of years now with only HDMI 2.0b chipsets.

You cannot buy a display from that company in the United States. My display (VIZIO OLED) has all of these technologies. And no, HDR10+ does not require HDMI 2.1 as none of the player models that support HDR10+ output have HDMI 2.1.
