Well it matches the packaging for Best Buy's Insignia brand so yeah obviously they just slapped the name on there. Still pretty cool though even if it's just a brand name slapped on a cheaper made set were not talking Kuro level quality here.

Default Pioneer Elite BD Player 2nd Quarter 2022?

As I recently expressed during a phone chat to Pioneer Support USA (now that Pioneer's licensing of their A/V products line is out from under troubled Onkyo and marketed by Voxx's Premium Audio company), the only thing upsetting about the LX500 is there's no volume/mute control of the analog stereo outputs, unlike my Oppo 95. With the Oppo I can directly feed by power amp to drive my floorstanding stereo speakers in my old school home theater; no need for a preamp with remote which I need to use with my LX500. Pioneer Support assured me that they will pass on my suggestions for inclusion in the SUCCESSOR Elite player which they expect to be out 2nd quarter 2022. I also asked them to please retain the LX500's FULLY functional zoom control which NO other high end BD player has-except for Oppo's stupid design trick. All Oppos have zoom but unlike the LX500 you can't then move the zoomed image to center it on the screen! The LX500 would have sold way better than it did if not for the AKM DAC chip factory fire and/or that it happened during COVID and that Pioneer and/or Onkyo made the dumb mistake of marketing the LX500 and LX800. The best features of both should have combined into one player. As is there's LX500 owners threads at AV forum and AVS forum; lots of happy owners there like me. And I don't think that Premium Audio and Sharp are going to overlook that fact one bit and thus deliver another Elite BD player next year. So even if it's Sharp who builds them, as long as it's only Pioneer who does all of the designing there's hope for a really kickass Pioneer player in 2022.

I hope this is all true but until I actually see one I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah..I'll believe it when I see it. The LX500 was only on the market for what....a year?

The market is going towards streaming and these companies don't want to mass-produce blu ray players. So seeing is believing.

No doubt...but the demand is still there. Even for a limited run.

A few reports on Reddit mentioning that Pioneer would be resuming manufacturing of the LX-500 this year at some point.

Source: Multiple dealers in the SF Bay area.

I'm not sure if I would put too much weight into it though as CES happened this month with no announcement.

I can zoom to 2X and center the image on my screen with my OPPO UDP-203.
I’ve had a few titles that didn’t allow it, but it’s typically an option.

I guess that it would be a new version like the panasonic 9000 since it had AK dac in it.

Got my hands on one of these finally and I must say this is the second best UHD player behind the two Oppo models 203/205. Remote is easy to use, DVD upscaling is amazing, BD and UHD playback looks incredible. Easy to use player. Well built player on front and back. Played about everything I threw at it. The Panasonic still edges it out for UHD playback but only slightly (it would be hard to tell a big difference the LX500 still looks brilliant). I wish I had gotten this player instead of the Panasonic's when it first launched as it's almost as good as the two UHD Oppo players. I did order one on some auction site for $699 awhile back but they cancelled my order and refunded me and I didn't pursue one after that but always wanted one still. Well done Pioneer now make more of them please.

It was a craigslist score. $850 but he wanted $1000. the people were moving and downsizing they had it in their garage it needed a good cleaning. Also got a nice box of blus and uhds for an extra $150. they tried to throw an old tv stand on me to for $200 but I passed. one of my better scores ever on craigslist basically threw the movies in with the player for $1000. the seller though knew what he had but just wanted it all gone. people really think getting rid of a small box of movies is really going to clear up lots of space, lol. a player can be replaced easily but hopefully that guy doesn't regret selling those movies to me. Oh well they say the stuff you own winds up owning you and that is true sometimes. better to part with some stuff if you want to.

Great Craigslist score. That never happens. You’re gonna have a fun weekend playing with your new gear. Enjoy.🍻

thanks, yeah I actually noticed it in the pic of the garage. they were not advertising it just moving sale, etc title. they had prices on some stuff in the ad but not the Pioneer. so I reached out and it was available still and the box of movies. really digging the Pioneer now it's one hell of a spinner. Right behind Oppo.

You always find the nicest gear!
I would love a 500..it’s a shame they stopped making them and you get SACD playback.

Got some nice scores recently yeah glad to have found them. If you ever stumble onto an LX500 don't hesitate to pick it up assuming the seller is not asking for a kings ransom for the unit. These are definitely worth the MFSRP.

Anyone have any idea where you can get a replacement HDMI port for these? I had a hookup on another unit it was recycled main HDMI port is totally busted. I can fix it just don't know where to buy a replacement HDMI port. My other unit is working fine still just got a second one pretty cheap with the busted HDMI port. It only outputs audio through audio HDMI port which is still good.

If all else fails, use the audio only hdmi port and just send everything through your avr.

You can't get video through it. Or is there a way like with the Panasonic's?

Got it for $500 shipped for parts just need to fix the main HDMI port. I have a friend in another state that looks out for stuff for me that people recycle. The main HDMI port is literally destroyed on it.

I can fix the HDMI port if I knew where to buy a replacement one. That is why I purchased it from him. If all else fails I have good parts for my working one.
