Obviously they offer discounts on products and you have to wait a little longer than usual to receive. Sometimes you can get an item a little faster. If you sign up and checkout you have to apply the $400 coupon to your order.

I'm waffling. I'm still leery but if I put it on credit card I'm covered if they try and pull a fast one. That price is difficult to pass up.

Check with the better business bureau.

I hear ya. I'm not even in the market for another UHD player, but that price on this tank of a unit has my leg twitching.

Was the Pioneer LX500 the one that could not play back mkv through USB and they were only 2.0 ? I just like to make sure before I spend so much . I was going to buy the Panasonic UB9000 . Now with this possible deal I'm not sure anymore . Any other important comparisons PQ and SQ vs the ub9000 ? Not worried about the sacd and dvd audio . I have that covered for now but I guess 1 machine would be nice .

It's not guaranteed now that the UB9000 comes to the USA from what we heard .

Is there a LX800 still in the works for the USA market ? If so I wonder if that is something Massdrop would get .

Seems doubtful the top end Pioneer or Panasonic comes to NA in the near future. Maybe later on down the road. The LX500 looks like the top gun for our market.

The pioneer doesn't list mkv in the manual so you'd need to put it in an mp4 or flv container.

Hmm, How much would I be gaining over the Sony x800 which is my all around universal UHD player at the moment ?

I really wanted the Ub9000 but may still get this Pioneer . Not much time left

I'm following this thread as a bystander atm. I've been wanting to upgrade from my Xbox One S to a dedicated 4K player. Obviously I missed out on the Oppo, which is disappointing because I bought an Oppo BDP-093 3D capable Blu-Ray player used online, and it's been one of the better decisions I've ever made. I got the no-region chip for it online, installed it, and I can play ANY Blu-Ray in the player, and it has EXCELLENT quality.

So when I saw this thread, I did some research on the Pioneer. I was perhaps a little more interested than some, because I bought a Pioneer Elite soundbar with Atmos processing just a couple months ago, and it's an AMAZING unit. Only besides the Pioneer being VERY expensive, it doesn't support HDR10+ if studios start supporting that format for Samsung 4K TV's.

Looking at TheWireCutter.com, they have reviews of many of the 4K players, and they indicate that if the Sony 700 or 800 don't give you enough features, a Panasonic is their upgrade pick, and IS HDR10+ capable, besides being in their mind, the closest thing you can get to an Oppo now that they are no longer produced... high praise indeed.

Obiviously many of you don't need HDR10+, and if you have the money for the Pioneer, I wouldn't blame you at all. It certainly sounds like an amazing unit. Personally, I can't really afford the Pioneer or Panasonic, so I'm going to keep my eyes and ears open, and hope for a deal as the holidays are approaching! Good luck!!!

The x800 is not selling for much and now with the end of the year sales approaching I would say best bet is selling locally (Facebook market, Craig’s list) or those buy/sell apps like letGo or Mercari. Maybe even try to sell it on AVS. I will be keeping mine and use it on my bedroom tv since tv and player are both HDR only so it will fit perfectly.

Even tho it has not been officially announced yet I am pretty sure the new UHD players coming out including the pioneer LX500 should be updated to support HDR10+ at some point.

Here's the BBB's page for Massdrop

https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/san-franci...op-1116-537294

Score of "F"

I assume it's the same one we've been discussing? If not, let me know and I'll delete my post.

I don't have any experience with the company, so I can not comment personally on their practices. I'm also not saying they are not "legit". Companies can be legit, but just poorly run.

Well if anyone wants to roll the dice on it there is 9 hours left to go as of this post on the live drop for this player and the $400 discount. So if you want one for that price better make up your mind.

18 months same as cash , "only" $300 more, plus complete peace of mind....go with BB or Value Electronics. Save $300, wait awhile, and probably regret your purchase go with Massdrop.

There’s just one big problem, a lot of people cannot finance due to poor credit.

Thanks for posting , Yeah that's way too shady , Trustpilot has some nightmares listed , But I do not know how well Trustpilot is either .

Pioneer’s 1-year warranty , I thought it has a 3 year warranty another bad sign .
