You can wait till Hell freezes over - manufacturers have seen that UHD-BD is a niche format and doesn't require new players. That's why none have been announced.
Some of the things at IFA are released worldwide. Also, what is this "lead company" you speak of? I hope it's not Pioneer.

You own the Vizio oled right? How are you watching your 4K UHD discs? You make it sound like the only player left in the world was from Japanese electronics company “P”. Whereas in reality there’s several players on the market right now. Whilst you wait for Japanese electronics company “P” to release a player, which in all likelihood will never happen, buy a cheap player from Japanese electronics company “S” or Korean electronics company Lucky Goldstar. Another option is to buy a player from Japanese electronics company “S” for its universal disc capabilities and a player from the other Japanese electrons company “P” for its HDR10+ capabilities. You’ll have the best of everything, will be less expensive then Japanese electronics company “P”, has HDR10+ (no waiting on a FW update) and the best part... wait for it... you can finally see and enjoy what that shiny new oled can do.

Exactly. It makes no sense to have AV1 on a player.

Many people use their BD player to stream video so it makes perfect sense. A dual purpose device. And it brings the cost down because they no longer have to pay the Royalties for AVC and HEVC as far as the streaming function of the player.

Pioneer never had streaming apps. Besides, Blu-ray players' streaming apps go out of date fast. If you want to stream video, you either use your display's built-in apps or you buy an Apple TV, Fire TV or Roku.

As stated earlier I would hate to see Pioneer (and Onkyo) go under. If I were in the market for a player I would procure a Panasonic and/or Sony, make the connections and start enjoying my content.

Some should remember when you went to the phone store you had to take a number and wait in line. Those days are gone, Best Buy closed all their mobile stores, AT&T sold all their stores, etc. Most any market can saturate and when it does business is going to fall off.

Awhile back Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was talking about their success but he fully expected Amazon to be displaced by someone in the future. Who and how was a ? mark.

Just like Yamaha, Pioneer has come to an end with their BD players. Like I said earlier buy while you can because when there are no choices left people are really going to be SOL.

Panasonic will be the next to go dark, then the panic buying starts.

Short sighted if you are serious about Home theater physical media. At best you can probably get 15-20 years out of a BD player. Always have a back up. Future proof yourself, you'll feel better.

Actually they aren't "laying around". Most are stored in high quality AV racks. You wouldn't invest in that many player's just to treat them haphazardly.

Yamaha also makes motorcycles, WaveRunners, pianos, etc., not just A/V equipment. I keep saying it, but I have not heard explicit news about Pioneer exiting the player market. Like I said, I would be more than willing to see what happens at IFA. It's only a month away. When they introduced the SC-LX904, it became available worldwide. I've had enough of naysayers. Ultra HD Blu-ray turns five this Valentine's Day. A format should not lose support after its fifth year. DVD has survived for 25 years and Blu-ray has survived for 15 years.

UPDATE: It looks like Pioneer has, albeit quietly, left the disc player market. If you do want a machine with these features there is the MAGNETAR.

Naa Panasonic seems to hone in on niche products that sell well. Their UHD BD players don'tt have that much competition, but they do have one problem they sell way too many cheap player models that should go. Canada has 3 UHD BD and 1 BD. Comparably in the UK they are nuts having 15 players. 8 being UHD players.

Pioneer has recently been a reminiscent of Yamaha, Denon, and like selling players that functionally were not necessarily superior but cost a lot more.

The last two pairs (BDP-LX55, BDP-LX88 models, and $1099/$2199 est for LX500/LX800 models) were not competitive, more to appeal to existing Pioneer owners.

If you compared the value to their Pioneer AVR's, it was really sad they priced their players so high. But now what have they got to offer just 2021 replacements for the under $1000 AVR crowd. Pioneer AV differently not chancing it on building expensive players anymore at this time.
