And not a small company either

The markets changing and in 15 years most of the market will likely be filled with indies taking a shot at building on these foundations.

That was my first, procured right after DVD was released nation wide. Paid around $950 for it, gave it to kin who still uses it.

What happened to you. You used to be such a nice guy. Then you went downhill, changing your Avatar every week, all that nonsense of Netflix going out of business . . . and worst of all, showing a stewless bowl of meat and veggies and calling it a stew. Shame on you.

They will tell you they are exploring all options for the market however no decision has been made. If they respond at all.

Are you really this obtuse that you have 0 clue as to how a PR or basic customer service statement works? If Pioneer had something to say they would say it. Honestly you could post they are releasing 15 models with X features and it wont matter. Why because your nobody in the industry your a freaking consumer. The only one I would believe on the subject on these forums without an official launch statement is Robert.

Speaking of jokes . . .

A Scotsman is walking in town and happens to walk past a liquor store. He looks in the window and sees his favorite Irish Whiskey for an unbelievable price of $.09 for a fifth. He immediately runs into the store and demands the owner sell him the bottle for the advertised in the window price of 9 cents.

The owner runs outside and looks and sees that instead of the normal $19.99 per bottle, the Vodka price which was above the Irish Whiskey somehow became dislodged, fell down and turned the price to $.09.

He runs back into the store and explains what happened to the Scotsman who doesn't believe him, calls him a liar and picks up the phone to call the police to come to the store.

The police arrive, listen to both sides of the story, then go outside and look in the window. The cop in charge decides to uphold the Scotsman's claim and demands the store owner sell him his Whiskey for 9 cents. "That's what it's advertised in your window for."

A few days later, the cop runs into the Scotsman on the street and begins chatting with him. He says; "Boy was that store owner mad when I forced him to sell you that Irish Whiskey for 9 cents." The Scotsman replies; "You think that made him mad, you should have heard him cussing and swearing at me when I brought the empty bottle back in and demanded 15 cents for the bottle return fee!"

Yeah, as high-end disc playback gets ever more niche then the big AV marques will eventually pull out of the market, as per Samsung. If they sell their tech to the indies then at least that will keep the disc dream alive for several more years.

At least the HD Blu-ray legacy market is well and truly secure for players.

One important thing from the LD community we can learn when everyone shuts up shop, is. We need lasers, lot's of lasers.

Samsung only made "high-end" players in the early years of Blu-ray.

Which company, Samsung? Making high end players? What the actual "F" are you talking about? Samsung make shit. They have always made shit. I had one of their early BD players, it lasted a few days before the spring popped out of the eject mechanism and it wouldn't open.

I was never a fan of their machines either, having owned two.

That should get a good laugh from them. Seriously they market products in Japan first where profit margins are better.

It's global support! It says it right in their address! You know what's funny? The Japanese website still shows these players with a red "NEW" sticker! Also, the players cost almost double the price over there as they do here.

Global support doesn't imply that countries outside of Japan get their products. The Japanese market is one where people spend large sums of money on gear and collect physical media, LPs way more than any place else.
