See this translated link page Click on the bottom right picture link Examples In addition to the "reference" that enjoys the original image quality of the content, it has a preset that allows you to select the optimum image quality for each of the "LCD TV", "OLED TV", and "projector" monitors. Furthermore, by incorporating the setting for SDR / HDR for each preset, it is possible to discriminate the signal and automatically switch to the setting according to each signal. In addition, image quality adjustment of seven items such as reduction of video noise and adjustment of fine feeling is possible. Up to 3 images can be memorized for each item. By operating the remote control, you can display information on the media and HDR on the screen. You can easily check detailed information on the playback disc and mastering information such as MaxCLL and MaxFALL for HDR content. Last edited by JohnAV; 08-23-2018 at 09:14 PM. |

Primarily, I'm curious if this player might end up having anything like Panasonic's HDR Optimizer. The information sheet you posted a few pages back mentions a "SDR/HDR Preset Mode for optimal performance for the display", so I'm hoping perhaps that might be referencing something that'll help tweak the HDR depending on the brightness of your display to avoid clipping, like Panasonic's feature.

The official model number is now the Pioneer UDP-LX500 and most likely because of inflation the official launch list price well be $1099.
https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P...-LX500#manuals According to the official Pioneer spec sheet everything else remains the same. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/e...@180815_HR.pdf |

Yea less output jacks when compared to a OPPO, and now exactly double the $549 list price when compared to the December 2016 OPPO UDP-203. But this UDP-LX500 should be very close in performance to the UDP-203 once Widescreen Review magazine or Sound and Vision magazine does a in depth professional review (that is if they do a review). Now if the UDP-LX800 is really released for $2,000. It needs to have 2 rear USB 3.0 jacks and 1 Gbps networking like the OPPO UDP-203. Also the UDP-LX800 needs 7.1 analog audio outputs with support for HDR10+. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 09-03-2018 at 06:19 PM. |

Balanced L/R stereo outputs are good for serious high-end 2-channel audio systems, especially when you have a long cable need.
8K TVs that we're seeing from IFA and I expect later this week at CEDIA are HDMI 2.0, not HDMI 2.1 as HDMI 2.1 chipsets for TVs are not even on the market yet. Minor point, but Pioneer's new Elite BDP-LX500 will list for $1,099. |

The first generation 8K displays well not be able to display 8K content and well be used for simulated 8K by upscaling all video sources to simulated 8K quality. As Robert mentioned the first generation 8K displays well be HDMI 2.0b. HDMI 2.1 is required for native 8K content (in theory around 2026 a optical disc or streaming 8K content well be made available). Maybe with a software update the first generation 8K displays might be able to do streaming native 8K but HDMI 2.1 is a physical hardware change therefore there is no way to get a 8K signal into a first generation native 8K display. The only exception to that is Digital Projections INC Insight Laser DLP 8K projector that is used for 8K computer graphics that does not use any HDMI interface. HDMI 2.1 should become a reality in 2019 or 2020.
4K Ultra HD well be with consumers for many years. We do not even have native commercial 8K movies in the movie theaters yet. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 09-04-2018 at 08:12 PM. |

Only companies like OPPO have their players price locked. Pioneer Elite products are launched at full list price, however in 6 months to a year they sometimes drop in price to make room for next years model. Sometimes a Pioneer Elite product can have a 2 year life span before the replacement model is released. The Pioneer UDP-LX500 well be selling for the full list price of $1099, however as long as inflation does not increase to much, in one year from launch date the UDP-LX500 might have a street price from mail order companies around $899. This is all wild guesses but that would be a $200 price drop. But if inflation kicks in it could receive a new $1500-$2000 list price in a year from now. |

Its confirmed in this Sound and Vision magazine article that the Pioneer UDP-LX500 well offer no video streaming like Netflix or VUDU. Therefore those that own a projector or older display with no built in streaming well need to spend around another $100 for a external streaming device like the Roku Ultra. That brings the cost of the plater up to $1,200 after one purchases a Roku Ultra. Sony and Panasonic 4K Blu-ray players offer video streaming. However Panasonic does not offer SACD and DVD-Audio playback.
The following Sound and Vision article is a interesting read: "The UDP-LX500 supports high-resolution audio playback but isn’t equipped with video-streaming apps or wireless multiroom audio." "Pioneer is bringing its first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player to the CEDIA Expo, helping fill a premium-player void created by Oppo’s exit from the Blu-ray market.
