You did good, but that others fellows ship needs to spring a leak and go beneath the waves instead of bailing water forever.

Reminds me of the Little Engine That Could book I used to read to my kids. “I think I can, I think I can...” Changed to “I hope Pioneer will release a new UHD player, I hope Pioneer will release a new UHD player...” Unlike the little engine who eventually gets over the hill, our little BM engine won’t be getting over his hill. Too bad there’s not any UHD players available now he could buy.

But, but, but... they did not say that they were not releasing a 4K disc player, either. There is a near infinite list of things that they did not say that they would not release.

Personally, I am waiting for Pioneer to bring another laserdisc player to market and while I am at it a new 4K 3D TV would be nice also. I mean, they didn't say they wouldn't, right?

I'm in super duper, cross my heart to die, super secret, decoder ring encrypted conversation with Pioneer. And they told me, without disclosing actual top secret information, that they are thinking about, possibly doing something super duper exciting and announcing that they are thinking about possibly or possibly not announcing a new product. So you heard it here first, and these are actually possibly real employees, or at least people walking by the building listening to Abba who told me this.

Went and checked prices on the Blu-ray release of Splash out of curiosity. Last few have sold for 100 quid (yikes), and one active auction for a BIN price of 500 quid.

PS: I might own a copy of Splash, or I might not.

I am waiting for Disney to release it on Blu-ray.

Oh wait, nope not for censorship plus I already imported it while it was readily available. That Statue Of Liberty scene is all mine and uncernsored whenever I want to watch the film.

And now we wait to see when Turner and Hooch will suddenly go OOP.

What is it with Australia. Rarist game's on some consoles, and now looking like it will have some of the rarest Blu-rays.

Well yeah good news for me is I did buy Turner and Hooch on BD as well. Love the scene where Tom Hanks is frustrated with Hooch and gets locked out of his house in the middle of the night by his dog with just his underwear on. Classic and worth the BD alone.

Another gem of a movie ignored by Disney in the USA market.

Pioneer discontinued the last LaserDisc player in 2009, although I wish they still made parts for them like some automakers do for their "classic" car models. When they discontinued LaserDisc players, they explicitly said they would, unlike their Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Also, the last LaserDisc release was Bringing Out the Dead on October 3, 2000, whereas new Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, Super Audio CDs and even the occasional DVD-Audio disc still continue to be released today.

Few if any automakers do that. They license them out to 3rd party vendors who have them made in China. That's why they don't fit right. If you need both L & R front fenders for your 1969 Camaro SS restoration, you will pay the required money and get used ones off of an existing car. That's why good condition 1969 Camaros with no drivetrain or interior sell for about $8000.

You have to remember that they didn't say that they wouldn't change their minds; their next player could be a combo laserdisc and 4K disc hybrid like my still working laserdisc and DVD hybrid the DVL-909. It won't include HDR10+ support, though, so you will still be left out in the cold.

I doubt THAT’S ever going to happen. What kind of crazy company would dare spend the money to make a player for a format that hasn’t had a new release for more than two decades?!?! Also, if they do start making Ultra HD Blu-ray players again, they will more than likely remember HDR10+ and make sure to include it on their players.

For the same "reason" that they will offer HDR10+ just to please you. They will make this combo LD/4K disc player just to please me. You're not the only one here who dreams.
