Day of The Dead (85)

The American Blu-ray has best picture quality, but not best extra features. It still have DNR, but less than the UK BD. Both 5.1-tracks have dialog overdubbed by different actors and brief alterations to language. Mono track is untouched.

The UK Blu-ray from Arrow Video have much more extra features, but a bit poorer colours and picture quality since they have used more DNR. The image is also stretched.

HK - DTS-MA/TrueHD 7.1 Cantonese with only dubbed track, English subs. People who have watched it says the picture quality is worse than the Warner Bros BDs.

US - English DD 5.1 (lossy), more extras.

Germany - Excellent transfer with DTS-HD MA 5.1 (Region free)
France - Excellent transfer with DTS-HD MA 5.1

I had originally ordered the regular release of this based on your info from amazon.de....
I was then told about grooves-inc.com so I cancelled and ordered it from there but I changed it up a bit and ordered the steelbook. I have been pointed to the steelbook link, released this year recently, on blu-ray.com and it states Region B locked....can you confirm if this is the case? One would think it would be the same release (region free) that the regular case has in it just a new shell. This would suck if it is locked, I hate returning things.

I'm not 100% on the steelbook release. With the regular German release the first pressing was region B locked and then after that it was released as region free.

In a thread I started I have a couple people saying the main feature is free but not the extras, and one person saying the features are as well but are in PAL format, therefor unable to be played on most NTSC players unless they convert PAL->NTSC.

I will know for sure in a couple of weeks, but that is positive news. I'll report back once I get it.

US: AVC, Cantonese: DTS-HD MA 5.1, DD 5.1, and English: DD 5.1. Scenes have been contrast-boosted. Mild ringing is easy to spot during selected scenes. Least amount of DNR, compared to the HK. Mild to strong digital noise. Most use Edge-enhancement, compared to the HK. Missing a few extras.

Seems like it`s a draw between the HK and UK.
