Canadian release of I Saw The Devil is the shorter international cut, like the US. The Korean edition contains both cuts of the film, with reportedly equal or slightly better video quality than the US/UK discs. I haven't been able to find a direct comparison. More extras, but they aren't English subtitled.
Fixed I saw the Devil.

OK I am ordering this on your personal guarantee that it is region free.
One question though, does it have English lossless or is it german only lossless?

EDIT: Ordered....damn shipping is more than the movie is, not cheap like co.uk

It has both German and English DTS-HD MA 5.1 tracks.

Better than I just paid but it won't break the bank. I won't be ordering from the German site again most likely. I rarely use co.uk (3-4 times maybe) I'm a .com or .ca user primarily.

A bunch more:

L.A. Confidential - Japanese has reportedly superior video.

Bound - Japanese video > French (the only two releases currently available)

Vengeance Trilogy - Canadian release contains the full DTS MA track for Oldboy. The U.S. set has only a lossy track.

The Leopard - French release obliterates US Criterion and UK in video quality, but is not English friendly

Easy Rider - version in Criterion's America Lost and Found set has slightly better video than the previous Sony release

Apocalypse Now - German release has slightly better video than the US/UK/French sets (slightly better contrast with less black crush; slightly higher bitrate)

Bad Boy Bubby - Australian disc has all extras from the US and UK discs. The US and UK are each missing extras that are on the other.

Bad Lieutenant (2010) - UK video > US; and slightly different extras (more)

Bird With The Crystal Plumage - US disc (now O.O.P.) has superior video to the UK disc and the correct aspect ratio (2.35:1). UK disc has incorrect aspect ratio.

Black Christmas (1974) - Canadian release has a far cooler cover than the US disc. Just sayin.

Chungking Express - US has superior video to the UK and HK discs.

City of the Living Dead - US has superior video to the UK disc. UK has more extras.

Deep Red - US has superior video to the UK disc. UK has more extras.

The Descent - Australian and UK releases have superior video to the US disc. Australia is best. UK has most extras.

Friday the 13th (1980) - US has better video than the UK

Hardware - US has 5.1 track but it's lossy. Uk disc has lossless 2.0. Some different extras.

Martyrs - UK has some extras, Canadian is bare bones. UK is B-locked.

To Live and Die in L.A. - US disc has much better video than international versions

The Killer - HK release has slightly better video than US (more grain, detail)

Let The Right One In - UK is superior to US in some way, but I forget exactly.

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done - Canada has an additional extra not on the German disc. German has cooler cover art

New York Ripper - UK cut for violence

Orphan - UK video > US; think it's B-locked

Picnic At Hanging Rock - UK has more extras than Australian disc. UK has eng subs

Scream - German has slightly better video than US, but no extras (I think)

The Shining - US is longer cut, foreign releases are the shorter international cut

Splice - German has far superior video quality, but it's a different cut of the film (substantial differences)

Starship troopers - UK has slightly better video; US has more extras

T2 (correction) - Japanese "premium" editions contain both cuts

Texas Chainsaw Massacre ('74) - UK has slightly better video quality; US has one small extra not on the UK disc

Zodiac - US has superior video. All foreign releases (from Warner) inferior

If the U.S. version is the best version then I am not adding it to the list.

Yea, was just going through my collection when I compiled that and wasnt thinking...disregard those. The majority on that list are superior foreign versions

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it run you? Because your best bet when ordering a single title (German releases) you should use grooves-inc.com, they are WAY cheaper than amazon.de for ordering just a single movie

Does anyone have a review for the Japenese version of memento? how does the PQ/AQ and other extras compare to the U.S. 10th Anniversary Ed?

Converted at today's rate, a tad over $31 Canadian. It a one off though so I am not too worried about it. But I will keep your advice under advisement and am making a bookmark for this thread for sure.

EDIT: After going through the process at grooves-inc it would have saved me $8. So I will keep it in mind for the future. Thanks for the advice

Could you elaborate on this having a different cut? Is it shorter or longer? Is it a better cut? I will import in a heartbeat if it's longer & better!

I'm also interested in this. Also is it remastered like the US edition?

This should tell you everything you need to know: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=354251

As you can see, not just a matter of a scene or two. Substantial differences.

The Descent - wanted to add that Australian is region free (confirmed), but pretty sure UK is B locked.

Couple nitpicks -

UK Orphan has better transfer, but isn't edited. Same version.

German splice is just a "different" cut, not edited per se. More violence in spots, less in others, etc. Kinda like I Saw The Devil.

This list is a great idea. There are a couple others like it I've seen but they seem more or less abandoned.
