I compared the German with the UK,(same as US release), and honestly, there's nothing in it, PQ wise. Both look fairly crap.

Wow

Where did you get that?
Anyway, it's great to know, thanks for the info.

And is there a screenshots comparison somewhere?

The film is so bad I don't think it would matter.

Plus I hate it without ever seeing it because it fooled me into thinking it was The Thing prequel with its trailer/teaser.

It can be worth £5 or less at least. Nice thriller and cool snowstorm but overall nothing that special but.....KATE

Always had an aversion/attraction thing with this movie!
No matter how bad the reviews are; the screenshots, the cast, and the trailer that reminds me of some movies I enjoy a lot... all that will probably drag me into spending 5£, I'm sure.

Just checked what kind of cuts were made to UK DVD http://www.schnittberichte.com/schni...ht.php?ID=4622
and everything seems to be ok in Sony BD.

Has anyone compared the Japan Blu-ray vs the German Blu-ray of "The Italian Job" (2003)

According to cinemasquid the specs look better. I was wondering if it was worth the extra money to get the Japanese Blu-ray.

Run time: 1:50:39

Movie File Size: 32.05 GB (32,046,145,536 bytes)

Total Bit Rate: 38.62 Mbps

16:9 (2.35:1)

Video Bit Rate: 32.92 Mbps

Audio: English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (48 kHz / 1663 kbps / 16-bit)

German Blu-ray:

I've heard that the German disc has some weird filtering on the audio that actually makes it sound worse than the lossy track on the US disc.

Can anyone that has the German Blu-ray confirm this? I hadn't heard the audio was messed up on it. I heard the picture quality was a lot better than the US Blu-ray.

This is one of my favorite movies & I was looking to import this one since the US Blu-ray's PQ is horrible.

I'm leaning towards the Japenese Blu-ray. Does anyone have the Japenese Blu-ray or know where there is a review posted of it so I can see how good the AQ & PQ is. Or is there anywhere to compare the German Blu-ray vs the Japanese Blu-ray to see which one is better.

I really hope the US Blu-ray is not the best one on this one because it was really bad.

I'd pull the trigger. Tough to beat $15.

Does the German version really have a messed up soundtrack?

Does anyone have the Japanese Blu-ray yet?

It would be nice to compare the two.

It seems anything would be better than the US picture quality.

Japan Blu-Ray Disk (Region Free)

Size: 1:50:39 / 29.85 GB (32,046,145,536 bytes) / 38.62 Mbps (Total)
Video: MPEG-4 AVC / 1080p24 / 2.35:1 / 32.92 Mbps
Audio: English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (48 kHz / 16-bit / 1663 kbps / Embedded AC3 5.1 640 kbps), Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps)
Subtitles:English, Japanese

-----------------------

USA Blu-Ray Disk (Region Free)

Size: 1:50:32 / 19.38 GB (20,805,236,736 bytes) / 25.10 Mbps (Total)
Video: MPEG-2 / 1080p24 / 2.40:1 / 21.77 Mbps
Audio: English Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps), French Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps), Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps)
Subtitles: English (SDH), English, French, Spanish

German Version has the lowest Bitrate. It was the same transfer as US but with different codec. AV* also says: The german BD messed up the audio. Even the lossy DD+ Track on HDDVD sounds better. Believe it or not

German Blu-Ray Specs:

Disc: BD-25 (20.64 GB)
Video: VC-1 / 1080p24 / 2.35:1 / 15.99 Mbps (Japan Version has 32.92 Mbps)

Audio: English DTS-HD Master 5.1 (48 kHz / 16-bit / 2287 kbps), German DTS-HD Master 5.1 (48 kHz / 16-bit / 2390 kbps

I have the JP ripped to drive but haven't watched it yet and nothing to compare it to either.
