The European Sony DVD was not a bad deal at the time. It came with a nice settei booklet that's preferable to a steelbook. I'm surprised that the settei booklet hasn't been reproduced for other releases. |

![]() Right now it's under $20 on Amazon.ca, and I might consider getting it if it's region-A compatible. Last edited by gwfb5; 12-29-2018 at 08:47 AM. |

Finally picked up the Devilman OVA bluray from Discotek. I can’t believe it’s an upscale; it looks fantastic.

Okay, thank you. It's weird that the back of the cover clearly says region-B. Shouldn't it say region-AB?
[Show spoiler] <Back cover.Everyone's complaining about the video transfer on Funimation's new SteelBook release, but are there any good comparisons between it and the previous transfer out there? I'd like to know exactly what the fuss is about before I blind buy this film. EDIT: While I looking at the Australian Blu-ray's back cover, I noticed that it clearly has the DTS-HD Master Audio logo under the audio. I thought this release had Dolby Digital 5.1 audio? Is anything on the back cover correct? Last edited by gwfb5; 12-29-2018 at 11:02 PM. |

LPCM is lossless, uncompressed sound. Dolby Digital is lossy.
It's hard to compare these two, because one is surround and the other is stereo. DD5.1 has more channels and the other is (much) higher quality. |

I’d personally prefer an LPCM Stereo mix at 16-Bit over a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix at 448 kbps. Then again, I don’t have a surround setup, but in this case, the Umbrella disc is better than the Image one because it has the extras. Sure, Umbrella has the DD 5.1, but overall with the extras, it makes a case for the definitive release.
