They've mentioned that they are fixing those issues.

The Japanese BD of Lupin Part 1 is problematic, but thankfully Discotek was able to produce a new remaster.

In light of the current RS sale, are there any Gundam shows with video issues besides Zeta Gundam? I also know SDBD dark levels on the Gundam Seed Ultimate box are messed up. What about original Gundam, 0080 0083, 08th MS Team, Char's Counter Attack, ZZ, Wing, G Gundam, Turn A, X?

SEED SDBD black levels were fixed and the UE should come with the corrected discs now. The corrected SDBD is in my opinion excellent. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the corrected HD remaster discs which have wrong black levels as well as corrupted frames in 4 episodes.

Original Gundam is missing 1 episode. The 2020 Japanese release has the missing episode with English subtitles.

0083 has poor compression and only the, in my opinion, inferior 2006 Japanese redub. It also has corrupted frames in episode 12 just like the 2016 Japanese Blu-ray. The 2020 Japanese release does not have the corrupted frames and it also has the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. I assume a similar situation with 08th MS Team in regards to picture quality.

Char's Counterattack is windowboxed like the original Japanese BD.

Wing has a corrupted frame in one episode, but it's otherwise fine from what I remember.

Turn A Gundam encode is not perfect, but it's acceptable.

Yes, though if you want the SEED SDBD, you'll be forced to buy it with HD in the Ultimate Edition unfortunately.

Looks like the reviewer mixed up the credits for DiU with the first series (as fun as it would have been to see, Jonathan and young Joseph are not the ones fighting Kira).

Part 1's video history (and partially audio) is very weird, was going to do a mini-writeup on it when the BD comes out

Thorfinn dreamed about going to Vinland for years – desiring nothing more than the opportunity to leave behind chaos and destruction for a tranquil home without war. Alas, the intoxicating dream of peace is brought to a close for Thorfinn when Jomsvikings arrive for slaughter.
No. Thorfinn lives a relatively peaceful life in the harsh environment of Iceland. The Jomsvikings do not arrive and start slaughtering people.

Quote:
After losing his father to the Jomsvikings, Thorfinn is now left with few options. Thorfinn decides to embark on a mission alongside the man responsible for his father's murder: the Jomsvikings leader, Askeladd ( Naoya Uchida). Yet Thorfinn holds a goal of his own – to avenge his father and bring justice for his murder. Can Thorfinn live the life of a warrior alongside evil Jomsvikings and someday find the opportunity to strike revenge against Askeladd?
No Askeladd is not the leader of the Jomsvikings. He and his mercenary group of Vikings are hired by a
[Show spoiler]Jomsviking leader to basically assasinate Thorfinn's father Thors the Troll
. Did he even watch the show?

If you think that the Jomsvikings are just evil then you don't understand the show.

Quote:
Written by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan, Mob Psycho 100), Vinland Saga is far from a perfect series and the writing reflects some of those shortcomings (and weaknesses). Much of this is likely attributable to the original source material used for adapting the story. Vinland Saga is reasonably entertaining but it isn't as cohesive as it wants to be.
I don't think he knows what the word cohesive means.

Main use of the reviews is just the screencaps they'll post, as well as backdrops for people's profiles.

I probably should have realized that considering its posted in the Video Quality thread. But every time I see one of his "reviews" my eyes want to bleed. I try to avoid them, but sometimes its reflex clicking on the link and then I can't unsee the horror. I still wouldn't promote those reviews, but point taken BOA.

I usually check the reviews for the list of extras. The screenshots in the anime reviews tend to be kind of bad.

btw, Sentai's Vinland Saga BD uses Prime Video version with dimming (also affects FR and DE BDs).

So does this mean Sentai is using the broadcast version? I wonder if there's any chance that the promised LE from Sentai would have improved quality if its released say over the summer. Darn.

Yes. Prime Video version is broadcast version without cuts.

I doubt that anyone at Sentai is even aware of the issue.

man Sentai is so wack. It's like people working there are clueless amateurs. Was planning on getting Vinland BD during a sale, not anymore.

Could be a licensor issue - cause it also affects the Kazé France and Kazé Germany releases too...
