3D vs 4K. Why most of the time I prefer 3D and hope 3D becomes part of the 8K standard.

I don't know what Avatar 2 will bring to the discussion, but if Disney (the parent of the Avatar franchise now) has a say it will mean a 2k DI for at least the 3D version.

8k will not change the studios' tendency to cheapen out. We won't be seeing true 8k content for some time to come given the industry's track record in terms of cinema DCP's.

Can you imagine rendering two eye views of 4k movies (let alone 8k), especially with all the CGI in most modern popcorn films?? They don't even do true 4k 3D now!

There is no such thing as 3D 4K at the time being.

It’s vaguely familiar as it looks like everything north of Ridgecrest and Mojave for miles and miles and miles. I could keep repeating but it gets more mind-numbing the longer it goes on.

Vast emptiness.

Ps: I was pole watching too. Couldn’t find it.

The in-cockpit shots look incredible. I saw the camera rig you posted before that they used. Is the plane a dual seat with Tom in the back or did they certify him to fly?

I was totally amazed at those shots too. Especially the one launching off the carrier!

He flew but the civilian versions as he was not rated for the military ones.
He said at comic con on stage.
Those cockpit scenes will be laser IMAX day one for me

what Agent Kay said ^,
TC in-cockpit leaving carrier compiled footage was shot a bit west of the arrow not long after departing port for a training exercise/deployment (which at the time of this previous post - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post16106248 was unreported by social media or the NAVY, but rather an exclusive to Blu-ray.com readers on this thread)

Kris, from your old sub days, do you recognize the locale of the image at 1m18s – 1m19s of the trailer at sunset looking down near the outlet to the ocean?

Awesome TG2 trailer, but for all the fine aviation porn in that movie what I *really* want to see is Penton playing volleyball clad only in his tight Lycra cycling shorts. And who's on the other side of the net? Why, the telephone pole of course!
