I've had the UB820 for a few days now and I like it. Is there a way to disable that annoying speed talking voice that vocalizes every button pressed? I didn't see a way unless I missed it. Also, again, unless I missed it, I didn't see a direct access subtitle button. Hopefully I won't have to go into a menu to turn them on or off.

BTW, it seems like the more expensive the player, the cheaper the remote feels lol.

You need a 9000 remote for the direct subtitle button. I think Sky Captain mentioned it a couple pages back. He got one off Amazon or Ebay I believe.

At 60 quid for an original versus 10 for the other I'll try the latter first.

Oppo, TCL and other techs are coming in with AR glasses. None are interested in bringing 3D blu ray MVC features to their product. I simply want something light and not weigh like PSVR

I've gotta' ask seeing as owners are here. The subtitle position option on the 9000 has 30 steps / increments of motion, I had a try of one in a local shop. Does the 820 have the same number of steps? A delivery is due in three weeks and I have put a deposit down, but I'll only buy it if it has the same functionality as on the 9000. I have several discs with forced subs and the 9000 moved them off screen perfectly.

At half the price? I’ll take the cheaper one.

I managed to snag one for like a tenner on eBay a while ago, I don't give a toss if it's official or not. Heck, a piece of shit on a stick would still be betterer than the remote the 820 comes with.

Yes, same granular level of subtitle adjustment on the 820 as the 9000.

I'm having an issue with my UB820. It's using premium certified cables and plugged into an LG g3. Recently it's developed a fault when I switch in the TV by pressing play on the UB820 with a disc already in the player.

It's started throwing up a 'cannot read. Please check disc' error on 4k discs (haven't tried blu rays). The problem is rectified by opening and closing the disc drawer (and losing my place in the movie for some discs).

There's some sort of lens problem in my opinion. However, the discs play find when the drawer has opened and closed.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it rectified? I've already tried doing a reset with OK blue and yellow, but no joy.

The Player is under warranty, but if it can be fixed somehow I'd prefer to do that.

Exactly !! Why would I want to pay C$40 plus shipping and wait for at least a week when I can get one at C$20 with free next day delivery? It’s not like I use the remote more than a couple of times for each movie I watch.

When in doubt and it’s still under warranty, send it in to be fixed

Thanks. The company I bought it from have said I can exchange it. I'm convenience it's an accumulation of disc residue on the lens over time (although I've only had the unit since October.

Still shouldn’t be that bad though. My 9000 and 820 are nearly 5 years old and still haven’t had disc reading problem. Touch wood.

So apparently this isn't an option for you, we talked about options in Europe, in Europe we have OEM remote after 1-2 day and the average price with shipping is ~$25 USD. A replacement can be purchased for 10 EUR with free shipping.

Yes. It’s weird that it’s only on startup and resolved when the disc tray is opened and closed. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the replacement.

Got my replacement ub820. And 4 UHD disc later thing ****ing pixelates and freezes (To Kill a Mockingbird). Title didn't have an issues on my last UB820. Tried it on my Sony 800 with zero issues.

I've really soured on these ****ing players.

My 820 has been a work horse so far, the door motor sounds pathetic though, makes me super nervous if I think about it too much. Also the plastic for it is paper thin and wants to wobble when I wipe it off for dust, they don't make parts like they used to, older players trays feel like a diving board compared.
