If it’s only Netflix I’d chalk it up to a software thing. Do you watch discs regularly?

Yes I do. Yesterday I watched one without a problem but netflix didn't work before or after that. I just don't get it how it can work great and then suddendly it just stops giving out sound.

Default UB820 and Synology DS918

Hi folks - I have a Synology DS918 NAS and would like to stream 4k movies to this UB820 (I'm thinking of buying).

I was thinking Plex or any other type of comparable software.

Can someone let me know if they tried from Synology NAS and was it Plex or Media Server and were there issues? Thanks

Unfortunately that trick does not work for any of the Region B anime I own. They're locked down and the top menu trick doesn't work. Works on my SC RAN (4K scan) Region B release and my Arrow Region B's however.

Plus I like the unlocked features that normally the 9000 usually only has. And I love seeing the Arrow Video logo load and hear that music play on every start up.

I did the factory reset and now the netflix sounds work like they should. Hopefully this time it'll last for a long time.

Why would you need to do the trick if you have the custom multi-region firmware anyway? Or is it a case of being too lazy to change the region over, I know I've done that before with my own modded Panny

I original defaulted to the Top Menu trick but again that method does not work on any Region B anime(Berserk, FMA B, GiTS SAC) so I went with the region free firmware.

If this is the place that sends you modified firmware, just be aware that I read online that the Panasonic 500 Blu-ray player (U.S. version) I have didn't work with this firmware, but since they didn't point that out on their site, I tried it anyway. It did not work, yet they should have known this. So be careful, it may not work on yours either.

Just be aware this can get costly if you’re one to upgrade firmware every time a new one is released and Panasonic keeps putting out frequent updates. You must pay for a new firmware every time you want to update. It’s not as high as the initial firmware but will add up over time.

I did the same with my 900. It was well worth it.
Worth updating every 5-6 months or when its a strong enough update that you find really needing.

I'll will likely do the same with the 820 soon.

Um, what? I'm not aware of having to pay for firmware. Is this some other firmware channel you're referring to?

It's third party region free firmware (for blu rays)...nothing to do with Panasonic corporate firmware releases.

Default Regarding disc mechanism noise when disc is spinning on UB820

How bad or good is the noise from the UB820 drive when a 4K UHD Bluray disc is spinning during playback?

I am getting conflicting reports some say it is loud and the fan is audible.

I have a XBox one X now that i use for 4k uhd bluray playback and it is absolutely horrible in the sound the drive is making when the disc is spinning.

I want to be certain that the UB820 is quiet.

Also how much better is the noise level on the UB9000 vs UB820 when a 4k disc is spinning during playback?

I hope someone can answer my questions.

Thanks alot in advance.
