Okay, thank you. One last question, the Panasonic website says that the 150 has the HDR optimizer feature. Is that correct? I thought only the higher end Panasonic players had that feature?

Thanks to all for the help. I was going crazy trying to see what it was, apparently the problem was in the Panny, I reset the settings and there it was fixed. Honestly, I have no idea what I touched ![]() ![]() |

I'm not 100%, but the 420 was one of the last cheaper Panasonic players to have the Optimizer. |

I'll never again buy a Panasonic product. My former UB420 failed to read 3 layer/100 GB discs after only 8 months of use.
The issue was most likely on the disc drive. I left my 420 to be serviced by Panasonic Spain and it took them 5 months to get it semi repaired!!! It played fine, but not all, 3 layer/100 GB discs, so I sold it telling the buyer about the issue. Panasonic Spain are unprofessional and real morons. A pity because the player looked great, but for now I'm sticking with my good old Sony X-800 that doesn't look as good as the Panasonic 420, but I haven't had any issues with the Sony X-800. Next time I'm on the market Panasonic players are out of the question, when my X-800 dies, which will eventually happen, I'll get a mid range Sony, at least they are relliable. |

Since you got a oppo 203, id use that for dolby vision only, since it doesn't clip the highlights like the 820 does. So turn off the vision on the player :O. You can also decrease the white tone curve on your oled with it to -2 and increase the black to +2 cause i read somewhere it helps a little bit to improve picture.

Finally got around to renting Midway from Redbox. Of course had the same issue as described (free around 37 and 39). Disappointing there still isn't a fix.
Luckily it's not too annoying as I didn't have to do any tricks to get around it, just waited 10 secs or so and it kept playing. |

If you're going to use the Optimizer then having a TV that isn't hitting huge nit numbers is probably a benefit. Your TV gets pretty bright, but I think the Panasonic (if you can get an 820 on offer) will improve on things.

I don't know the answer. I've never seen any clipping that would scream bloody murder. DV was darker on my Z9D and Oppo, looks a little more poppy on the A9G with panny. No idea which is correct but seems a little silly to hold off on an 820 for a minor issue seen on a specific scene of a pause movie when every combination of player and TV seem to show things a hair differently. The issue seems to be more with Dolby. |
