Thanks. Yea, the first thing I did was update to the latest firmware. I believe it was 1.25. I never tried the player with its original firmware because I figured the latest would be best.

I apologize I wasn't clearer, my coffee hasn't set in yet. That's correct, I have no noise issues with my player.

Thanks. I am beginning to think I got a bad until because mine sure is noisy. I have owned a lot of players over the years and none sounded like this Panasonic. What sucks though is if I take it back to Best Buy I won't be able to exchange it as each store only got one.

Living in the corporate home location of Best Buy, there are 15 stores in the metro area. Only one of the stores had stock when i picked mine up Thursday and it had several.

The disc mechanism in mine is definitely louder than my Oppo 203 is. But I have mine in an in-wall cabinet with a glass door front so I don't hear anything during playback.

The UB820 SDR/BT2020 mode with Optimizer turned on has changed my opinion of the Arrival UHD disc from frustrated at how dark it is, to now be one of my favorite UHD titles. Of course, with Arrival I wasn't going to hear anything from the disc mechanism with my dual 18" subs getting a real work out with the amazing soundtrack.

Mine is quiet. I tried skipping around starship troopers 4k disc with no problems.

Thanks JWB2. A gentleman on AVS forum said that Starship Troopers has authoring issues and one must have a USB drive 1gb or larger plugged in for it to play correctly. Do you have one plugged into your player?

Maybe return it to Best Buy and order one through Value Electronics to support small businesses and get top customer service.

No usb plugged in for me. Are there any scenes in particular that I can check out for you?

On Planet Earth II discs one and two, After I hit Play all, The HDR goes off and stays off. I have to manually turn on HDR optimizer to get it back. Is anyone else having this issue? Only one out of 10 times did the HDR go off and then came right back on when the first scene began.

Last I heard that was only needed for the old US blu-ray, not the UHD.

I think your right Geoff D. I think BDlive was only used on standard Blu-ray. Anyway this is what happened just now. I plugged in a 4gb USB drive into my front USB port. Starship Troopers played flawlessly and need I say looks absolutely georgous with this player.

Then I removed the USB drive and tried playing the disc without it plugged in. Again it played perfectly with no skipping. I'm not sure why it's playing as it should now. I swear it was glitching like mad before.lol

Nevermind JWB2. All seems fine now. I'm not sure why it was glitching so bad before unless there was something on the disc. Thanks for your help though.

Im finaly have mine 824.
Pictures look nice.
But onlything wat dont work good are some series i downloaded. (Cant buy theme in nl so this is mine only option).
But the sound wont play with those torrents.
O and the player make no noise when playing a uhd disk. Only hear him spinning when he load the disk or the movie in the start.

If the downloads have lossless sound then they won't play with audio on the Panny.

Today I finished to set up mine. Dolby Vision even on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, HDR10 on YouTube. HDR tone mapping and control also on YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Watched Black Panther. At minute 20 images popping like I had never had the luck to experiment before. It’s a joy for the eyes I would say it’s a kind of Chromotherapy.
