Dolby Vision doesn't work on Netflix app of UB820 for E6 owners. I only get audio and a black screen after Dolby Vision label appears. Someone more knowledgeable can probably elaborate more on this.

I watched Altered Carbon on Netflix last night in HDR10 and Atmos. My projector does not support Dolby Vision so I can't answer to that question.

UB820 > Denon X6400H > JVC RS500

My Denon reported getting Atmos.

It works perfectly on my LG OLED. The issue must be model specific.

The LG OLED 6 series do not support Dolby Vision at 60Hz. They will only support it at 24Hz or 30Hz. Dolby Vision at 60Hz is supported on 7 and 8 series models.

Unfortunately for you, the UB820 will only output 60Hz from streaming services.

I didn't think about that. Good point. I had a 6 series and Apple TV would not run 60Hz. I picked up a 7 series and that was no longer an issue. I forgot about that until I saw your post. Good catch.

Doesn't look like it Geoff D. I can confirm it streaming Netflix at least. I haven't tried the others yet. It's OK though because I only bought one for its second to none disc performance.

I can't express how much I hate both streaming and the legacy of 1950s era 50 and 60hz xxxx we are still dealing with even now. Anyone who thinks physical media is dead - they may be right, but these frigging muppets in charge of these stupid companies who do xxxx like 60hz of 24p film, as well as not supporting DOWNLOADING to allow playback with no degredation, they can all go to hell. I'm a videophile, and it's a xxxxing abomination.

You do realize 50 and 60p were only ever I as our countries AC power was 50 and 60 hz, so was easier to sync to?

Hi,

It's my first message on this forum. I got a problem with my Panasonic DP-UB820. I want to use an analogue audio output because I currently do not have a receiver with an HDMI input. If I enable analog 7.1 audio output in the player settings, the UB820 can't read most of the 20th Century Fox Blu-rays. I got the message that firmware update is needed to play this disc. If I turn back to HDMI audio (and disable analog audio output), FOX Blu-ray works fine. So no way to play most of the standard FOX Blu-ray if analog audio in enabled in player settings. All my UHD Blu-rays, even from FOX, plays fine with analog audio.
In June I reported a bug in UB820 firmware for Panasonic support, but despite many firmware updates, the problem has still not been fixed.
The same problem is described by users in various forums.

I have a request to Robert Zohn. I know you have good contact with Panasonic. Could you please report this problem to them? I think the Panasonic headquarters in Japan do not know about it.
Does the described problem also apply to the UB9000 model?
I realize that few users currently use analog audio, but I think I have the right to expect that a Blu-ray player equipped with an analog audio output will be able to use it.
My old Panasonic DMP-BDT300 (model from 2010) does not have any problems with FOX Bly-ray playback, despite the use of analog audio.

I got the same issue.

I'm in discussion with Panasonic Europe and they told me they inform Japan's heaquarter... last message two days ago, asking me to check if I correctly agreed terms and condition of use by setting check in the brank square (Home>Settings>Network>Legal Notices), which I already did...

Last firmware 1.26 still doesn't solve the problem...

Is there any hope that UB9000 would do Netflix/Prime at 24p instead of forcing 60p? I was ready to pull the trigger on UB820 but since I have LG B6 losing Dolby Vision on Netflix/Prime hurts.

I wrote Panasonic technical support three times - in June, July and August. The first time they wrote back, they accepted the bug report. The second time they told me to report to the authorized Panasonic service. The third time they did not reply. In my opinion, the Panasonic regional branches (at least in Europe) have no idea what's going on and are responsible for getting rid of the embarrassing customer.
I am not so sure if they have forwarded information to Panasonic headquarters in Japan...
It is unacceptable that such nasty firmware bug has not been fixed in three months. If Panasonic does not fix it soon, I will never buy their equipment again.

I doubt it. The UB420, UB820 and UB9000 share the same firmware.

I agree, not sure if they forward to headquarter... they did ask me for fox BD references, picture of the red screen and send me messages 3 times with 3 different procedure to check...
Not happy either to be a beta tester for panasonic...

That's strange. I have the E6 and the UB820 and Dolby Vision works for me every time on Netflix. I have my video cable connected directly to the E6 and the second hdmi doing audio to the receiver.

I do not believe that the matter will solve itself. Panasonic's engineers probably do not know about the problem, which is why it has not been resolved for so long.
That's why I renew my request to Robert Zohn to be so kind and contact Panasonic's engineers. This is our last hope...

And you also get atmos with it? If so, I think I could get one and just try it out also. I could always return it if it doesn't work.

But this is something I do hate about this whole UHD thing.. I spend so much money on equipment and I still might not get everything. Too many standards and uncertainties to get everything working correctly..

That's really true; it's a struggle anymore to get all the pieces and all the settings setup and handshaking. Remember when the most difficult setup we had to do was matching red, white, and yellow RCA cable colors and be certain the device was on the correct input? Okay... things sounded and looked like crap, but today's multiple standards and very picky (and certified) cabling can be a confusing hassle for the common man or woman.

That's interesting. I have a Monoprice Premium Certified High Speed HDMI Cable going from HDMI Video OUT of UB820 to my Blu-ray HDMI Input on my Denon X6400H and then HDMI cable (Monitor ARC) Output going to HDMI 2 ARC Input of 65E6P. I also don't get Dolby Vision with Prime app of the 820 as well. Do you get Dolby Atmos on Netflix as well? Let me know any other settings you may have enabled that I could try. Thanks.
