Alas, it would appear not, at least not according to this website. About time it was though.

Great pair of Christmas movies. Both are incredibly sad. I see The Snowman Bluray release got a good review on here, too.

I got this last holiday season (along with an Oppo 103 with region free mod) but didn't have a TV so haven't seen the whole proper version yet. I got a new 4k set this Spring (I'm in Chicago) and I peeked a few scenes from The Snowman. Compared to the DVD I have, the colors are much better and the details are bumped up as you would expect.

Only bad thing is no lossless soundtrack. How could they skimp on that as this is blu ray not DVD. Anyway, Looking forward to Christmas with the grand kids and watching these two movies. All time favorite holiday movie.

Just picked up the double set in HMV for £9.99 which is pretty good, never gone below £13 on Amazon.

Is this combo region-free? How's the sound quality? Mono/stereo? Image quality?

I just watched the DVD of Snowman -- fabulous film -- and am hoping the Blu-ray has improvements all way round. Thank you.

On this blu-ray The Snowman in 16:9 ratio and to me unwatchable as many shots were framed way to tight. This short was designed, filmed and screened in 4:3 and should be released as such.

My understanding is that the current DVD is also 16:9 but secondhand (perhaps even "old stock" brand new if you're lucky) correctly 4:3 formatted DVD editions aren't hard to find.

The one and only release of the original version of The Snowman which is 4:3 with the Briggs intro and the shorter end credits is on the very first US dvd release from 1998 that paired it with the US revoiced version of Father Xmas.

That version has never appeared on home video in the UK ever on any format. The alternate intros are usually extras but I've never seen a release with the ability to play it with the Briggs intro attached to the cartoon. The 4:3 editions in the UK usually have the Bowie intro.
If you know of one that has the Briggs intro please post a link as I'd like a PAL copy

Worth getting for the alternate US version of Father Xmas that has never been seen here ever. I find it far more pleasant than the original version but only because I don't like the idea of santa as a miserable git

Is the 2006 DVD edition the same as the original 1998 version DVD at 1.33:1 or is it the "revoiced" version and cropped, known as pan and scan, into 1.78:1? Is it a 2006 repressing of the original 1998 DVD?

If you're referring to this release (which is just The Snowman, no Father Christmas), then I'm guessing it's the same version that's on the 1998 DVD as there's no mention of David Bowie or Mel Smith on the back.

I remember reading Fungus the Bogeyman when it was raining outside at school during break, and us kids loving the all the body fluids/excretions being mentioned.

I forgot about Fungus.

I preferred Father Christmas over The Snowman though.

The Australian DVD released in 2004 used the original version;

It's PAL, 4:3 and uses the Briggs introduction, however, video and audio quality is not great. It's rather dark with some red/brown tints for the first half of the film but it does improve as the film goes on. Audio is not as "full" as other versions. Columbia/TriStar used a very worn-out source for this DVD which is odd considering the US 1998 DVD looks and sounds very good despite the NTSC conversion. It is still very watchable though.

I wish Shout or somebody would pick these up for a U.S. release. They are on DVD, but like the blu-rays, they are more than 10 years old. Love these movies (especially the original)!
