Ah, man, are you telling me there will be no single-player campaign? That sucks. I don't really care for online games.

If it's going to be online only I hope it's not gonna be PLAUGED with laggers. I couldn't stand that from the socom series. Seems like Socom always had the biggest amount of this

Online only is devastating news.

I doubt I'll drop in, but who knows. We'll see how it turns out.

Correct, online only for Confrontation. You and the others wanting a single player/campaign mode have to wait for Zipper's Socom 4, sorry.

aside from that socom's single player always sucked, so easy, ai was pretty bad with the exception of Combined Assault

For those who don't get EGM, just keep checking that link for the May issue with Socom on the cover.

Actually, I've been thinking about this. Since this is only online and I don't like online, it give me a little more time to beat MGS4. I know it will be long as heck and I am already not that great at games. And then I'll get Killzone 2 instead which is scheduled to come out that same month.

Default Socom: Just got May's EGM

Anyone else get theirs?

I haven't read the whole article yet, but I'm pretty excited about it.

ALA Warhawk, the map scales down for lower-player games. I haven't played Socom before, so maybe it does this already.

I guess they are building off of Socom 1+2, because 3 sucked (?).

I like the bombed out hotel, which serves as a tasty sniper point. Walk those streets at your own peril.

It said that Confrontation will launch with 6 special forces available to clan members:

1. Navy Sea, Air and Land (SEALS)

2. Special Air Service

3. Kommando Spezialkrafte

4. Unidad de Operaciones Especiales

5. Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale

6. Commando Raggruppamento Subacquei ed Incursori Tesero Tesei

Geez that las one was long.

Supposedly the view distance is much better too (thanks PS3). And the maps "encourage close-corridors combat that made the first early games a hit."

Also, there's new(?) architecture in the game that include underground tunnels, rooftop areas, little-known pathways, etc.

The article also talked about running and shooting, how you need to prep your weapon, accuracy, etc.

Clan management is easier and there's training and tryout rooms.

You can chat with your group via open-mic or press L2 to message the whole team.

Sounds like this game will be the you know what.

They're still muffling the sound of gunshots etc around corners so you can tell conflict is happening out of sight.

The new sprint ability kills your accuracy, even a few seconds after you've finished sprinting but is useful for making a hasty retreat.

Could be seeing more as soon as April 28th/29th:

We're Almost There!

I was talking to my contact at Sony and picked up some great information. It’s pretty easy to understand. The deadline on new information about SOCOM US Navy SEALs: Confrontation is over as of April 28th. That’s great news, right?

But, there is always a “but.” This time around, it’s something else that should be familiar to game players worldwide. We aren’t going to be able to just drop every little bit of information about the game on you on April 29th.

Default Anyone else excited as HELL for Socom: Confrontation

I haven't seen much discussion around here about the new online-only SOCOM game to be released this summer for the PS3. If any of you played 1 and 2, the developers have commited to going back to a no-vehicle, smaller map style that SOCOM fans know and love. I...CAN...NOT...WAIT!

Should be more interest next week when new media's free to go up on the internet. Keep any eye on SOCOM.com for updates too.
