Have any of you played the old Socom games and COD4 ? how would you compare the two? EGM has a very long article about this new socom game. i would be excited if there were a 1st person view. 3rd person + realism = akwardness

While ill admit I never really cared for the other socoms if I get in the beta ill give it a chance, during that era I was heavy playing opfp which is a military simulator and it really obscured my vision for alot other stuff, and gave me somewhat unrealistic expectations.

Seth: This is currently in the game, we like it too :-). The speed of getting up is similar to SOCOM II.

the model 18 has been in Socom since the original one way back in 2002.

Now that we have been spoiled with COD4, Uncharted, GT5 Pro and MGS4 the graphics of Socom doesn't seem to be there..

May be hearing more about this today. The SOCOM media event on Tuesday I think had a media embargo that lifts today.

They update socom.com fairly well, almost daily updates, been getting alot of good info from there. I like what they are doing overall.. I hope they keep ranking to auto-match games only.

I enjoyed the past 3 Socom's and I'm a FPS kinda guy myself, but I enjoyed it, I hope that Socom Confrontation is a longer campaign, I was kinda let down in 3, with how quickly I blew threw it. it was fun for the most part though, I'll definitely be pre-ordering confrontation.

there is no campaign in confrontation, only in socom 4 due out in 09 I believe.

I like the on-line but when I want to just take my time... sneak around... scan the countyside with my sniper scope, I play the single player mode. Love campaigns. Do them at my own speed, y'know? I do get tired of just running & gunning from start to finish with no time to just check out the great landscapes the guys worked so hard on.
