I am anxiously awaiting this game myself. Warhawk and Graw 2 keeping me busy until then! Hoping COD4 helps ease the wait also.

You know that Zipper isn't dev'ing it right? It should be good and fun but expect a "real" socom later next year.

Im glad Zipper is'nt doing it. They F$%& up with Socom 3 and CA! They never listen to what gamers want and deliver. I think SlantSix will do a GREAT job with making it more like Socom 2 which is what people have ben asking for.

yeah cause Socom was good without Zipper (when was that again?).. erhhh umm.. yeah...

you do know SlantSix is talking with Zipper on development and using alot of code from them as well?

Last I heard was Novemeber, for download online only.. and do not look for anything mind blowing but basically a HD Socom2 plus.. like they said before full next gen to come much later..

I am saying that its just nice for a change. Zipper just dont listen. If it is just a HD Socom 2 with smooth gameplay 95% of Socom fans will be absolutely estatic!

I am hoping it has a 'shoot/peak around corners/walls' like Rainbow Six has. A lot of new games I see including Uncharted have this feature and I think it really elevates a game fun and skill wise.

Socom does have a similiar feature, you just dont lock onto the wall. Thats the only part of the peak feature I dont like is sometimes it can be a pain to get out of that mode quickly. But I do agree with a little tweeking it would be awesome!

I like Socom also has this thing called "jump" that rainbow six, and ghost recon lack. It actually allows your character to overcome obstacles such as curbs, and large rocks.. crazy next gen idea there...

Yes! I cant beleive you cant walk through half of the bushes or fall off a 2 foot lege in GRAW2. Plus, if I was getting shot at in real life I would be jumping like a MFer!

Picked up Socom: Combined Assault. It's a new PS2 game I'm playing on the PS3 and although the graphics are typical of the Socom franchise... man, what a great game. Tons of levels and they're all different from each other. If you like the series, don't pass on it because it's simply a PS2 game... it's well worth it and you CAN select widescreen in the options menu.

Now, this leads me to a long-standing qustion and issue I've had with Socom3... Only once was I ever able to get past the level where you blow up the drug dealer's plane. At the end of that mission, it freezes up and will not get going again unless I do a hard re-boot of the system via the main power switch. Now, bear in mind, I've replaced the disc twice, checked for scratches etc... and played it on the PS2 as well as the PS3 and it does the same damn thing. I've checked with Sony and other forums and had no success getting past that frickin' mission. So... does anyone have a fool-proof remedy for this issue besides throwing Holy Water on it while yelling, "The power of Christ compels you"?

wow this game is hardly "new", it has been out for at least a year. And the strength of this game and every Socom game is online, not the 1 player story mode. I did complete the story mode online though, with other players.. thus using the combined part of this game... never froze on me. You may have better luck on some Playstation 2 forum, as this is mainly PS3...

WEll, it was worth a shot. Figured somebody might know. Yeah, it's true Combined Assault HAS been out for a while but I meant new as in latest Socom title.

The U.S. Playstation store says the release date is 2008. I always love shooters and the pics on the site show that that is what it is. Anybody know anything about, say for instance a more specific release date?

I know it's a little early to be asking (with COD4 just out) but who is looking forward to the next SOCOM to come out and how do you think it will compare (as there are a lot more of you in the know then I)?

I know, I know... It's SOCOM and then Killzone II and so on and so on...

But damn, this is an exciting time to be a gamer.

I loved the first two SOCOMs, I didn't care for the third... But I have high hopes for Confrontation.
