sick of this gameplay over graphics thing,it was a ps2 game before.this is the mighty ps3 were talking about it has the power to deliver the experience above and beyond what the ps2 achieved.

well said, this game is the holdover for zipper to really bring socom to the next level, i like the beta sure it has its problems but i have yet to stand in a circle with 4 other guys for 5 minutes and nobody hit one another like Protues stated, its cool if you dont like the game but i find that really hard to beleive, and the graphics are pretty good in hi def, i will buy for sure and play for long periods of time, all you socom junkies know what im saying.

Whoever said this looks good in 1080p is insane. its in 720p, and looks much better on a 720p native screen. I have a 1080p Samsung and it looks atrocious, but again the game is fun, but the anti-aliasing is horrendous, COD4 looks better, and that game is bad looking.

Are you recommending setting the resolution of the TV to 720p instead of 1080p manually? I wish the PS3 could do this automatically.

It does set to the game's native resolution automatically. SOCOM is a 720p game.

No, any 1080p set it is going to look worse on because it has more pixels. As if you had a 720p only set, it is going to look alot better/smoother, because the pixels are closer together and made for 720p, (usually 720p sets are on smaller Tvs.) On anything big, its going to usually look like a 1080p set does.

Recall Rainbow Six Vegas. Setting the PS3 display to 1080i made the game look horrendous. Manually adjusting the display setting to 720p on the PS3 made a huge difference. I am asking if the same thing applies here.

Yes.

Maybe not the extreme polish that KZ2 or FFXIII may end up with (only KZ2 is proving to be on track at the moment though and GT5 Prologue has TERRIBLE graphics/physics). But, I do expect it to have 'the next gen (now gen basically)' look and feel.

I don't think it is asking too much for the game to be on par graphically with even 'ports'. Even Rainbow Six Vegas (the first port) looked better than this (I actually went back and played it again to compare believe it or not).

This title is made exclusively for the PS3 by Sony. It should showcase that. Instead it just gives more fodder to 360 fanboys to diss the PS3.

The title just looks really really rushed.

I'm _praying_ that it only looks so bad because it's being over compressed for the sake of data storage on the PS3 (kinda how the Motorstorm PR demo looks WAY different and lower quality than the press demo at E3 did so it isn't a massive file). Otherwise, there really is not an excuse for it to have this lack of graphical polish.

Sorry, it is my opinion and I'm sticking by it. If it were 'art style' or something, I would understand. But, it's not. It's simply low quality. It may be 'okay' or 'good' to some people with different expectations, yes; however, it is not by any means a 'next gen' look or feel.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta 1.30 Patch Incoming

We are happy to announce that the eagerly anticipated SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta 1.30 Patch will be released on Thursday, September 18th, at 12:00 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST/KST).

The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 patch addresses the following issues:
  • Abnormally long network synchronization issues when some users in a game have a poor network connection. This issue causes 4-7 minute (or longer) load times when late joining a game.
  • Fixed an issue where respawn game late joiners were sometimes stuck in spectator mode and could not respawn into the game.
  • Removed the latency detection network test which was causing some users with poor network connections to receive the network latency icon (red X).
  • Fixed an issue where clients with different client versions (patches) could play together in a default medley game.
  • Fixed an issue where if the session master leaves the game, late joiners could not "green up" and late join into the game.
  • Fixed corrupt characters in the European and Japanese EULAs and Server News.
  • Fixed many join game issues and made joining a game quicker. We are still optimizing this.
  • Fixed an issue where if you add and then remove someone from your block list they were still unable to send you a message.
  • Improved accuracy while moving (based on user feedback). Partial implementation. More improvements to come.
  • Reduced the encumbrance penalty (based on user feedback).
  • Changed the default round time for Medley games from 8 minutes to 6 minutes (based on user feedback).
We are still looking into the following issues and they will be addressed in a future patch:
  • Some late joiners have really bad framerate (5fps) and crash if they exit the game from the start menu. This happens at approximately 1/50 frequency.
  • Some late joiners will get stuck on the round complete screen. This is timing dependent.
  • Some users will crash in-game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency (games).
  • Some late joiners get stuck on the loading screen, loading into a game. This happens at approximately 1/100 frequency.
  • Green or corrupted particles appear for RPG, C4 and AT4 explosions. This happens at approximately 1/4 frequency (users).
  • Further tuning and tweaking based on user feedback.
Once the patch is released, we will continue to keep an eye out for any additional issues which may arise.
