Isnt there an actual Socom game coming out in 2009? I thought this was just to hold everyone over until then like GT5 Prolouge

No, this is socom. Zipper is making MAG which is 256 multiplayer, but we haven't heard anything about it since e3... 1st person? 3rd person?

I thought i heard the same thing that this one would be online and the new one would go back to how the originals were. But I haven't heard anything for a long time.

I still find it amazing that a launch title like Resistance had so much and worked so well and years later we're getting games with more bugs and less features. Things should improve over time, not get worse. I'm told by people I play with who've played Socom for years (I haven't) that this is a Sony franchise and was their big shooter franchise. If that's truly the case, I just don't see how they could let it be rushed out the door for its launch on the PS3.

It wasn't rushed by the developer. It was rushed by the fans. It was a WHOLE new game design, (first time developing on ps3), (also not the original developers). Zipper were the originals. For what Slant Six has done, with what they have given, is great. They are supporting their fans, and the game just like Criterion has with Burnout, and I see them continuing their support even after its fixed.

Everyone knew it wasn't going to be the same Socom since Zipper isn't doing it. Stop complaining and just enjoy the game..

I'm cool, its just everywhere I go people complain about everything, its christmas time, and its getting annoying, so I let out some steam.

Just check out socom.com, 1000 comments most of them just bashing slant six, at least they are listening to the fans.

SOCOM is still the foundation for a great game. Much more realistic and sim-tactical than a run and gun game like COD4, which I also have.

Once they add trophies and a couple more maps, I'll be very happy.

My only complaint is more of a nitpick... I'd prefer them to get rid of some of the duplication/questioning on the menus. Yes, I want to enter that chat room. I don't care if it's already in progress, just let me in!

I thought there wasn't a SET date but it would be nice to get it today, I enjoyed this game but stopped playing because im waiting for the trophies...would love to get back into it

The SOCOM website says that they hope to release it the week of the 5th, or the 12th... I'll check when I get home. I've stopped playing this game until it's released, and can't wait to pick it up again.

The news you have all been waiting for. The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update has been approved and will be released tomorrow, January 9th, at about 5am EST (2am PST, 1000 UTC/GMT, 1900 JST/KST). The SOCOM: Confrontation server will be down for 1 to 2 hours at that time in order to update the server for the new update. Everything should be back up and running at about 7am EST (4am PST, 1200 UTC/GMT, 2100 JST/KST).

In order to resolve incorrect player stats and to correct the stats for the Trophy support, we will be clearing all player statistics with the release of the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update. This will be done when the server is updated.
