Penton-Man.....Congrats and thank you for all the info you have provided over the past few weeks. Also a shout out to all the other insiders for their great work. Anyways, Penton-Man....when did you actually find out about WB's decision? Were the sides pretty close the last week or two, or is this something that came down with some last minute marathon negotiations?

it was never a marriage, just a quick f**k in the back seat of High Definition Media.

Id like to see the BDA get Netflix into this fold. I rent many before buying and do not attend the theater very much.

Netflix could potentially up the BD offering and lower the HDDVD offering so we dont have so many short waits on HDM.

I think once the dust settles and Blu is even more dominant the PS3 sales will explode.

I would also be interested in hearing the post-mortum on this. Now that we have won warner, can any insiders divulge any more info on the timeline of events leading up to this?

Is there any hope of a solution to get analog multi - channel out for the ps3 (without replacing existing hardware)? is there any way to have a cable with multi channel outs from the av port?

I'm glad to see that Warner made their announcement with style. They did it BEFORE CES so they wouldn't have to take any misleading positions there. And they're phasing out their HD DVD support between now and May to honor their previous title announcemnts. That's the way it ough to be done. Bravo, Warner!

Hey, Merlins! Nice to see you round here old friend.

I've seen you helping to hold the fort over at HDD. Great job as usual.

And here we are and it's as good as over. Victory for Blu-ray (just a few loose ends to tie up). All the arguments were worth it in the end - pretty easy when all you have to do is tell the truth!

Victory for Blu-ray. It feels great does it not?

And yeah, it is the INSIDER thread. Sorry about that.

Does anyone think that Universal will go neutral now in the next 6 months?

I think there is a very high probability of Universal releasing on Blu-ray very soon. General Electric, the owners, will probably make the call.

As for poor old Paramount, they could well be frozen out of the Blu-ray bonanza that is about to commence. They could end up losing far more than they were paid to drop Blu-ray in the first place. What delicious irony.

Perhaps they have an escape clause? But, who cares. It will be nice to see them squirm for a while, supporting a format that just had its life support machine switched off.

Thank you and all other insiders on Blu-ray.com for always demonstrating professionalism and not stooping to posting FUD about the other side. Also, this may be the most important thing, thank you for listening to us, the consumer, with regards to what WE value in a high-definition format.

The uncompressed audio, no dial norm, one sticker on the cases, etc all show what a group of consummate professionals can accomplish.

You should all give yourselves a pat on the back and take a bow.
