Speaking of steaks, I just gave each of the coyotes Christmas dinner (a couple days early).
This year that was a total of 12 steaks ( $$ ) as the two girls each had two pups and lo and behold their boyfriends have been hanging out with them daily for the past couple months.
So, the pack is now up to 6.

First I barbecued them with a special rub-on seasoning following by some barbecue sauce at the very end of the process. Do you know how heavy 12 BIG steaks are to carry up a hill on your back?

And in regards to waving a steak, this could be for you mystik, as we’re counting on you to come thru…………..

Yeah if I were a movie studio I'd go Blu-exclusive for one of those!

one big thing that is failing to get mentioned about the harry potter number is the fact that these are only US numbers. How do you guys think HD DVD faired up against blu-ray in Europe, Australia and even Japan with Harry Potter. I promise you blu-ray destroyed them and on a worldwide scale blu-ray most likely has a very healthy lead over hd dvd with potter, even if the US ratio isn't so hot.

Remember, WB still hasn't announced the numbers yet, probably means they are poor for both sides given what Max implied. If POTC second week sales beat out HP, HP sales must have been lower than expected. I'm sure WB was gunning to beat Bourne on HD DVD and failed too.

Penton sure seemed to directly say that Warner is going Blu at CES. Everything seems to be pointing that way especially if "leaked" Nielsen numbers from last week are true (61:39) even after the Amazon HD BOGO, and Bourne. I thought that week would be a lot closer than it was. The trend is becoming to obvious to have to wait for sales numbers for all of "5th quarter" it seems.
I hope you're right about 'Sin City.' I have seen that Buena Vista Blu-ray promo since Feb. 07 and it has been frustrating not seeing any release dates. Let's hope for CES '08.

Maybe they'll be wearing them at the CES? Paramount execs too?

I am looking foward to CES in 2 weeks. I am excited to here all the new announcement of movies coming early next year as well as surprise announcements that I am sure will occur(i.e. Weinstein going neutral or exclusive and of course WB ) we shall see very shortly what CES will bring us BLU supporters

I see best buy is running a 3 for 2 on HD DVD only. There are over 200 titles to select from including the Bourne Ultimatium and the latest Potter. Is this a sign of things to come out of best buy or is it something the HD DVD promo group did trying to buy numbers, because they are hurting so bad.

Now for a true insider question -- why barbecue the steaks, Penton?

Do they really prefer them grilled as opposed to raw? And what is the secret of the special seasoning?

You see that is called great marketing. During one of the biggest shopping times of the year the HDDVD group is having a sale to push their product. The BDA, being braindead as usual at marketing, didn't think of offering such a deal to take advantage of the shopping season. This isn't anything new, you should be used to these kinds of missteps by the BDA already.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Years as well!

A big thanks to all the insiders for all the hard work (day job and forum posting) and info throughout 2007. Here's hoping for "one format under Blu, with quality and HDM for all" in 2008.

Sorry, but your a troll, and a poor one at that.

Every single post runs down Blu-ray and the BDA when they are actually trouncing HD-DVD on all sides!

Don't know about you, but most people have already finished their shopping and are at home enjoying their family. I finished mine a while back. But I'm also glad there aren't any BOGO BD sales this week. I bought so many the past few weeks that I had to start a spreadsheet in Excel to keep track of what I've bought so I wouldn't buy the same thing twice (did that already).

Don't know what you consider great marketing LeoneFan, but the BDA has been on the ball the past few months. Don't always be so negative about things, otherwise you'll end up with a sack of coal for Christmas.

Penton-Man, you're a gentleman and a scholar! Merry Xmas to you, and everyone else. Here's to a Blu 2008! :-)

Best time to liquidate stock (before CES)?

3 for 2 is great and 2 for 1 is bad?
Hmmm?

That great marketing by the hddvd group has really been paying off, I'll bet they're selling so much more movies right now than BD. It is so sad to see BD get owned week after week by hd dvd selling the majority of the discs.

I hardly think anyone's taking a break on marketing.
But it would be humane if they did...let HD win one week so they can have some hope....

Oh wait, that would be cruel.

Dude, what gives? Why is every post of yours a knock against Blu-ray or the BDA?

If you don't have anything positive to add, please don't add anything at all.

Trouncing? Yeah I guess Harry Potter selling only 1.2x on Blu is considered trouncing now.

Let's all keep our blinders on, pat each other on the back, and ignore the facts. I'm sure everything will turn out for the better that way. I'm not a troll, just a realist.
