Not to mention the number of hours I spend during the weeknights watching movies and whatnot. I have no life.
Watching film's is life. Normies will never understand. I'd be a happy man snuffing it while watching Citizen Kane.

OH NO!!!!! Don't put that thought in my head. I fall asleep watching movies all the time and it freaks me out from time to time thinking I might not wake up. Da--! Now my anxiety is up.

It's good. I'm just a big bag o'mess. There ain't much that won't affect me. Pennywise would have a field day with me. He wouldn't need to come back for 54 years if he got a hold of me.

That’s why man invented OLED.

It's a panel display tech though. There's no substitute for a large projected image (for movies) when done right. No doubt, lumens for front projection will improve, but there's only so much brightness necessary in a light controlled, light treated space.

Anyhow, enjoy your Laserdiscs.

Get some cannabis spray with a balance of THC and CBD. Works like a charm.

Although I do watch some movies during the day, especially on weekends during winter when there just ain’t nothing else to do, there is no question that the PQ takes a hit. Even the trusty OLED suffers a bit with stray light. You can only make the viewing room so dark. This is why I wish we had the basement completely finished and I made a dedicated theatre area down there. Damnit. Next house.

With a dedicated room that’s a great call but just not feasible for those of us that watch in living rooms. Great call though!

Yep, the realities of life. Next house. My girls are won’t be living with us forever. I hope.

Having a separate space for my hobby is a blessing. It’s just the wife and I in my house. We rarely separate to watch movies but we do if I’m watching my 80’s trash.

"The look of 5247 film stock, including TECHNICOLOR processing had specific characteristics which can be summarized as:

Vivid, strong saturated colors
Strong contrast
Typical dynamic range: 8-9 stops
Sometimes pastelly color-tones
Skin tones hue leaning towards red
Overall color had darker saturation"
"After filming, the footage was developed in a lab and often got the TECHNICOLOR[2] 3-Strip processing and is then beeing copied to another negative filmstock – the RELEASE NEGATIVE or RELEASE PRINT which then was the master for copying the RELEASE PRINTS for movie theater distribution. (which was opften Eastman 5384 for films released to theaters 1982-1993 or so)"

Kodak Eastman 5384 theatrical print stock:
"An even more significant consideration for labs is reduced sensitivity to such process variations as temperature and certain chemical levels. This should improve both productivity and quality assurance. For example, we anticipate better timing correlation between answer prints and prints from full-length, one-light duplicate negatives since 5384 "sees" all preprint materials essentially alike."

Shame CRT's could never get bigger or lighter. They happen to be great for HDR heavy video games, I imagine they'd be the same for movies.

LCD technology is the single worst thing that has ever happened to home video. But with OLED now being readily available, I no longer miss CRT.

That recent Digital Foundry video got me in the mood for modern games on CRT too.

Playing video games on CRT is also much more fun due to no lag.
