I like Mathis, but aging player wanting big salary is never a good combo. Guess we'll see how good Jason Peter made him.

Sure I wouldn't give him too much of an extension. But to cut him outright after he said he'd be there for the mandatory minicamp. He only missed voluntary OTAs. Hell Mo missed the voluntary OTAs, but Macs not foolish enough to cut him lol. I know different circumstances as one is in his prime and the other is leaving his. But still to cut him...

I guess Chip can do no wrong. At least until he goes 5-11

The players didn't like Harbaugh but once the wins stopped coming they got fed up with him. Says a lot it would appear they would still rather have him than the current regime, a lot of them can't jump ship fast enough.

It's Chris Mortensen so I take it with less than a grain of salt. Yes, Dez is unhappy but if he sits out he not only forfeits the $13 million but he loses this year so he's right back here but with a year missed next year. Sure he could get franchised twice but it'd be worse to miss an entire season and get franchised twice rather than just get franchised twice.

He can pull an Emmitt Smith. Jerry better pony up that cash. Without Dez and coupled with the loss of Demarco, the Cowboys would be in serious trouble.

Our passing offense wouldn't be as good but we do have -
Terrance Williams
Cole Beasley
Devin Street
Jason Witten
Could also use the two receiving TEs we have that we never really use, not to mention there will be decent WRs to sign after teams go to 53. I really like Dez but in the nearly impossible scenario he doesn't sign, our offense would be okay. Not as good as last year without two All Pros but okay.

That's a pretty bad receiving corps without Dez.

Dez won't be sitting out any games. He's just trying to get some leverage.

I don't know... Dez seems like exactly the kind of person who would sit out games to make a point.

That's pretty terrible tbh. Can Terrance get consistently open without the constant double teams thrown to Dez? Witten is a constant of course. But the offense would be seriously hampered with no Dez and no Demarco.

It's still better than a lot of the receiving corp we've had since Owens left, even when Dez was on the field. I would rather have Dez and I think we will but if he's not out there I still think Romo goes for about 3200 yards, about 25 TDs and hopefully single digit INTs. Dez is very good but lacks long speed despite the long TDs he scores, still doesn't run crisp routes and relies on muscling his way open more often than he should. There's also the fact that he looks for contact too often instead of just going for more yards. Oh and his style of play leads to stuff like the final offensive play of 2014 for us, should've either just gone down after the catch or made more of an effort to make it obvious that he caught it.

Let's be real. If he sits out and you go say 0-3 to start the season, everyone will want Jerry's head and will be crying for Dez to come back. People don't appreciate what they have until they no longer have it. I'd kill to have him on my team, and so would a lot of other teams.

The difference between Emmitt and Dez is that the deadline for Dez and the Cowboys to reach a long-term deal is July 15, and after that date no deal longer than a year can be signed, so sitting out games doesn't give him the leverage it gave Emmitt. The only things a holdout could accomplish is the Cowboys give Dez more money than the franchise tender (unlikely) or agree not to franchise Dez after the 2015 season.

I got to put on the Patriots Super Bowl XXXVIII ring at a college football tailgate about a decade ago from a player that played sparingly for the Pats that year and it was massive and uncomfortable to wear. I can completely understand why the players almost never wear their rings.
