I saw that, incredibly sad news. I grew up listening to him on Monday Night Football. May he rest in peace, and I will keep his family and friends in my prayers.

I thought he was younger than 84. I guess it's because Kathy Lee was so much younger than him.

Next stop Vikings 2016 Super Bowl champs. And we'll do it with proper balls.

Make sure your ball boys are better than Brady's at circumventing the rules.

Vikings looked pretty impressive. Of course it's just the preseason. They went 4-0 in the preseason last year, so...

Some things I noticed last night:
Trae Waynes is really fast and was playing pretty aggressive. I'm glad he got called for a couple penalties. If he can use his new knowledge of what he can & can't get away with, along with his raw talent, he could be a great player.

Danielle Hunter looked great. Not flashy like Jared Allen, but strong and solid. Should push for Robison's spot.

Stefon Diggs is fun to watch, but can he be a starting receiver? That punt return was amazing, but it all comes down to route running. If he can't do that, he'll be riding the bench with Patterson.

Speaking of Patterson, he didn't do much (again) with the limited snaps he got.
With the inclusion of Wallace & Diggs, Adam Thielen's going to have a hard time finding a roster spot this year.

It's an exciting time to be a Vikings fan. Good luck this year Waboman

As I've said for a while now... Vikings are the best up and coming team in the league. Bright future there. I hope AP has another 3-5 seasons left in the tank... because Teddy will peak then and they could make a run at a Super Bowl.

Playoffs this year IMO... As a wild card team.

But last night meant absolutely nothing. You can pretty much ignore everything you see in preseason.

Can't wait for Friday though... Mariota hype is insane right now. I honestly can't remember a rookie QB being hyped up this much in training camp. Please be good. We deserve this. I've suffered long enough. It's time.

I agree to an extent. Preseason games are not a reliable projection for the regular season, but it does give a fan some things to watch for if they're interested. I touched on a few for the Vikings, but for the Steelers:

Landry Jones looked pretty bad last night. I understand he's the third string, but I don't see him pushing Gradkowski for the backup job.

I wouldn't want to run against those linebackers! Timmons & Shazier make a nasty inside duo.

Dri Archer is fun to watch! Hopefully they let him play with DeAngelo during the first two games while Bell is suspended.

And my favorite part of preseason? Seeing the rookies for the 1st time. Pretty uneventful night for Dupree & Coates. Jesse James wishes it was uneventful for him

For your game this week, it will mean nothing to a lot of people. But some of us are excited to see Mariota & Green-Beckham. And how soon will Cobb push Sankey for the starting job?

Evidently for last night's game, it drew a higher rating than Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals earlier this year. I think it's safe to say that America is ready for some football!

I barely watched at all. Jones was absolutely horrendous from what I saw. Badly overthrew a wide open Coates in the endzone.

Dupree will be a bust. Overhyped. Was never that impressed with him. They were all surprised he fell that far. I wasn't. He's very average IMO. Coates could be good if he can learn how to catch consistently. High ceiling, low floor type player. Boom or bust.

And yea... I can barely hold back my excitement. Hope Mariota lives up to the hype. 8 practices with no interceptions... though I don't read much into that. And it probably means the defense sucks. But everyone has said he looks great and makes smart decisions.
