Manziel suspended for 4 games.Johnny Manziel has been suspended for the first four games of next season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and the free agent quarterback could face further discipline over his domestic violence case if he signs with another team.

The suspension announced Thursday is not related to the league's domestic violence policy, but Manziel would be subject to standards that were toughened two years ago if he signs with another team. The 23-year-old Manziel, released by Cleveland in March, faces a misdemeanor assault charge in Dallas involving former girlfriend Colleen Crowley.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from Texas A&M was suspended the same week he posted pictures on Instagram from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The post included a reference to his father, Paul Manziel, who called his son a "druggie" following a report from The Associated Press of one of his attorneys mistakenly sending a text that indicated doubts whether Manziel could stay clean.

A spokeswoman for Manziel declined to comment on the NFL's suspension.

Denard Robinson not charged as police determine he was not impaired

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson was found asleep at the wheel by authorities as his car was sinking into a retention pond in Jacksonville, Florida, early Sunday.

A female also was asleep in the passenger seat of Robinson's Chevy Impala when police officers approached the car at approximately 4:22 a.m. Both Robinson and the passenger had to be assisted out of the vehicle.

A police officer determined Robinson wasn't impaired so no DUI charges were filed against the 25-year-old running back.

Robinson's car was totaled. Authorities didn't observe any skid marks to indicate Robinson tried to hit his brakes before the car hit the water.

Robinson acknowledged the incident in a tweet Tuesday and said he "should not have been driving that late or when I was that tired."

Denard needs to go to bed earlier, and not be out and about so late so he can wake up and practice protecting the ball more due to his fumbling issues last season. Just glad it wasn't major.

Louis Murphy Passed Out At A Wedding And Got Trapped In A Museum

From the Tampa Bay Times comes an exceptionally endearing story about Buccaneers receiver Louis Murphy, who recently attended former college teammate Deonte Thompson’s wedding at the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, Fla. Turns out, if you have a bit too much to drink and fall asleep in the museum, you might end up locked inside.

According to a police report, Murphy fell asleep on some stairs in the museum’s courtyard, and then woke up the next morning to discover that everyone from the wedding had left and that the doors were locked. He broke the glass pane on one of the doors in order to unlock it, and then called the police for assistance. Murphy released a statement about the incident:

“This was really just a series of small unfortunate circumstances,” Murphy said Wednesday in a statement. “With no one around, my only option was to break a small glass pane of the door in order to access a phone and call for help. I dialed the police and explained that I needed assistance. It’s unfortunate that I needed to break the glass, but the police officers on the scene and museum staff acknowledged that I didn’t have many other options. I’m working with the museum to ensure everything is properly handled.”
