But it's not really. It's a question of whether or not the person who determines the punishment can also be the arbitrator in the case, which is provided to him in the CBA. It's contractual law at best, and there is significant precedent in the case that supports the NFL.

At this point I wish Brady would just let it go and accept the suspension, as unfair as he may think it is. Everything I've read is that while he may have a decent chance at getting a stay it's unlikely the Supreme Court would agree to hear the case and extremely unlikely Brady would win if they did hear it, so best-case scenario likely is they push back the suspension until 2017, and worst-case the stay is withdrawn during the season so Brady gets suspended during the season or playoffs. The Pats schedule isn't terrible after the opener at Arizona with 3 straight home games and it's very possible they could go 3-1 or 2-2 with Garoppolo at QB. Unfortunately, this is no longer about Brady, it's a battle between the NFL and NFLPA over Goodell's power, so the NFLPA will likely try to get Brady to drag this out as long as possible.

Not according to what i read:

"The case has a significant potential impact in other industries that rely on private arbitration agreements, since the principles expressed in the appeals court ruling become the law of the land, at least within the states that fall within the Second Circuit."

I was in a store today & they were playing "freeze frame" - whenever i hear that song i feel like im waiting for the instant replay decision now.

If he appeals, which all signs point to, he is taking a pretty big risk at hurting his team when they need him the most.

I think Brady wrongly views giving up on the case, even though it's completely hopeless, as some sort of admission of guilt. He really shouldn't. He took it as far as he can reasonably expect to.

Today is the deadline for franchise players to sign a long-term deal and it appears Von Miller will get a deal done with the Broncos. Reportedly Denver has upped their guarantee to $70 million, and that should be enough to get the 6-year, $114.5 million deal done.

It doesn't seem like any other deals will get done. Kicker Justin Tucker said yesterday that he's been angered by the negotiations and if a long-term deal isn't struck by today's deadline then he won't consider signing with the Ravens after the season. Muhammad Wilkerson, Alshon Jeffery, Trumaine Johnson, Eric Berry, and Kirk Cousins all seem unlikely to sign deals, although it's possible with the deadline looming something could get done.

Would love to see Eric Berry in Dallas to complement Byron Jones for the right price but I know it's a pipe dream.

The NYJ have ROYALLY effed up the situation with Mo Wilkerson. It's gonna suck to see him take his talents elsewhere, but we don't have the cash to pay him.

Tom Brady just announced on Facebook that he isn't going to proceed with his legal case any further.

Quote:
I'm very grateful for the overwhelming support I've received from Mr. Kraft, the Kraft family, coach Belichick, my coaches and teammates, the NFLPA, my agents, my loving family and most of all, our fans. It has been a challenging 18 months and I have made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with the legal process. I'm going to work hard to be the best player I can be for the New England Patriots and I look forward to having the opportunity to return to the field this fall.

Do you think the team asked him to let it go or was this his own decision?

Broncos and Miller have agreed to terms on a 6-yr contract.

Yeah, this is disappointing. Williams definitely has potential to be a solid RB, hopefully he learns from this and moves on...

From what I've read it appears Belichick wanted Brady to accept the punishment. It's a lot easier to prepare Garoppolo to start the first 4 games with months notice than it would be if Brady got a stay and then suddenly during the season (or playoffs) the stay ended and Brady was suspended with virtually no notice. The likelihood of Brady winning the case was so slim that at best he was likely just delaying the inevitable, and it's not the worst thing for Brady not to have to start the season and go against 4 of the league's better defensive lines.
