The weed more than the attitude I think, although his "fantastic" effort in Oakland probably won't help.

I have nothing against marijuana but as conservative as a lot of people in this country are, it could well be a factor in the voting.

I doubt the weed factors in much. It's more about his attitude and how was was (rightfully) perceived as quitting on his teams often.

Just this week I read that apparently Peyton Manning almost managed to get Randy Moss to go to Tennessee for college. Manning to Moss would have resulted in some ridiculous offensive numbers. In just 2 years at Marshall Moss put up over 3,500 yards and 54 TD's.

I believe he was supposed to go to Miami but he got in trouble and had to settle for Marshall.

It was FSU he was supposed to be with before the trouble. The Noles also had some great teams in those years. Moss might have helped them win a national championship.

Bummed Dawk didn't make it in this year but very happy LiL T didn't make either. Actually Owens didn't even make it to the final 10 for the second year.

Next two years have some surefire locks, especially on the defensive side which will further hurt Dawkins' chances!

2018: Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Randy Moss and Steve Hutchinson
2019: Ed Reed, Champ Baily and Tony Gonzales

Plus John Lynch!

Owens didn't make first ballot. What would make you think Moss makes first ballot? The two men both virtually identical NFL career statistics and a similar stigma of being jerks by the HOF voters. Moss will end up waiting just like Owens.

Owens was never on a 18-1 team though. I believe they're both top 5 in a lot of receiving categories but due to the stigma against them I could see them both waiting a long time.

I agree. I was just putting his name out there as someone who will draw votes.
At least towards the end of his career Moss dropped the diva attitude and is working on TV, while TO never even got that far(sorry reality TV doesn't count).
Hey, I hope they make him wait!
I still think Lynch is the biggest hurdle as there's no way two safeties make it in on the same ballot. There are only 7 "true" safeties in the Hall, with another 4 that played both CB/S.
Oh well, would have been nice to see him get in...maybe next year.

Jason Taylor was on a 1-15 team, he's in.

That "1" is the problem. Had he won a ring with the Patriots he might have had a shot at first ballot HOF. But the fact is they lost, just like Owens lost in his only Super Bowl. Both guys carry that stigma of never having won a ring.

Jason Taylor was a great guy and a great player and on some great defenses, he was a lock.

Lol, unless you're in the room casting votes, no way you can say anyone is a lock.

Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Jason Witten and Adrian Peterson are all locks.

In your opinion, yes.
I could argue AP might have to wait, with all the nonsense he brought on himself.
Also I wouldn't view Witten as a lock.

Yes, those guys are first ballot locks. Jason Taylor isn't a first ballot lock though. He'll make it in but I doubt it's year 1.

Whaaaaa?
Jason Taylor just got in.

Edit: I'm guessing you meant Witten. Gates will be the biggest hurdle for Witten. If neither wins a ring, Gates has the edge. Especially if they both retire at the same time.

Oh, I thought Taylor wasn't up till 2018. I'm very surprised he made first ballot. Wpuld have thought he'd be 2nd or 3rd ballot at best. I mean the guy had a really good career but not world shattering. His great reputation probably put him over the top. The one time I saw Taylor play in person was in 1999. 62-7.
