Ajayi is at the end of his rookie deal, and has bad knees. Not a good situation for Philly to be in. Hopefully they can work out a team friendly deal, but Ajayi is going to press for as much as he can get and one can’t blame him.

I don't think the Pats see the Jets as any kind of immediate threat. I know for people who can't stand the Pats this kind of conspiracy thinking is an easy jump to make but in terms of long term football planning it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I saw that. He's been unsigned for less that two months and it's "collusion" already? He even had a visit with the Bengals already. I really do like him but he makes it real hard with this BS. He might have a point if the season had started already. I was thinking someone would pick him up during the pre-season, when there was slim pickings or injuries on their teams but this "collusion" grievance will probably give some teams even more pause.
Beyond that if him and Kaep wanted to continue playing football I am sure there are some CFL teams that would take them or they could wait for next years AFA (or whatever its called).

Yeah I don't know enough about Reid to have an opinion but he pretty much just torpedoed his career. Wonder if Kaep or anyone else got in his ear and told him this was his best option, but they were wrong.

Reid is at best the 3rd-best free agent safety at the moment, behind Kenny Vaacaro and Tre Boston. Supply exceeds demand at the position and there aren't many teams interested in the position so the market has been slow, and Reid filing the grievance now practically guarantees no team will pick him up for training camp.

Have you watched "The Two Bills?" If he could get the player he wanted AND screw the NYJ over at the same time, he'd absolutely jump at the chance. That bad blood has been there a LONG time. To ignore it means that you don't fully understand just how bad it was/is.

Well he hired Kaeps attorney, Mark Geragos

Yup, Lynch and many other have said the same thing which might actually play into the whole "collusion" narrative unfortunately

Nope haven't watched it, don't care to, not interested in fan conspiracy stuff, which is what that sounds like. Yes I know there is bad blood but a lot of it is very old. I don't ignore it, I do understand it but I think its more of a crutch that those who hate the Pats hold onto to justify that hatred. I'm not even a Pats fan so I have no horse in the race. Again, I don't even care about any of that extra stuff, my only contention is that Mayfield doesn't sound like the prototypical NE/Belichick fit even if you fit in all the extra stuff. Pay a hefty price at the potential future detriment of the franchise just to maybe, hopefully spite the Jets? Possible, sure. Probable, no

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there are "far more" teams not willing to pay free agent Dez Bryant at the league minimum than there are teams that would even sign Bryant to any contract.

Bryant has been on the open market for close to three weeks now, and that market has been pretty icy. Only the Ravens have been known to offer him a deal, one that was reportedly a three-year, $21 million pact that Bryant turned down before the Ravens then moved on to Willie Snead. Per Schefter, the NFC East isn't at all interested in Bryant. It's difficult to even find a suitor.

You haven't seen it but it sounds like fan conspiracy stuff? Actually, there's nothing conspiring about it, it's one of the many fine ESPN documentaries that was recently produced with plenty of factual details, but why let that get it the way? I don't have to justify my hatred of the Pats in the least, nor does it matter right in this particular instance...we just drafted the QB we have coveted for a long time and he was the consensus best QB in the draft. On the other side, the Pats need to determine who their QB of the future will be after Brady retires whenever that is. Anyway, we obviously agree to disagree.

I just read the summary of that 30 For 30 and it does sound intriguing, beyond that any doc can take a slant but from the write up I read it sounds like Parcells and Belichick made peace years ago. If Parcells was still with the jets and there was still animosity between them as competitors, I could see making a move like the one you are suggesting.
It's hard for me to keep track of who is a fan of what team and who hates who in this thread but your disdain for the Pats, which no one is asking you to justify - I am indifferent, was coming across as obvious and is why I assumed the doc you reference was some kind of YouTube fan video. My only contention was that Mayfield doesn't scream prototypical Pats player to me even when you take Belichick and any supposed spiteful move out of it. That's it, that's all. I'm not a Pats fan so it doesn't matter to me. There are just certain players I can't imagine playing for certain teams. Not really anything to agree or disagree about.

That's right, keep thinking the Cowboys who are 22-11 over the last 2 seasons are the 22nd best team in the NFL.

I actually thought it was kinda reasonable, would move up Dallas and both NY teams a little bit, Packers and maybe Rams a little lower, and add a BIG caveat that the Texans are 12-worthy IF they can stay healthy.

Quote:
Jason Witten retired after 15 seasons in the NFL.

News of Witten's likely retirement surfaced during the draft last week, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the tight end had yet to make up his mind. He apparently has now. Following in the footsteps of long-time quarterback Tony Romo, Witten will step right into the broadcast booth as the analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football. A career Cowboy, Witten finishes his run with the fourth-most receptions in NFL history and the second-most by a tight end behind just Tony Gonzalez. With two First-Team All-Pros and 11 Pro Bowls to his name, Witten is very likely to end up in the Hall of Fame.
