Ironically, EJ Manuel just got hired today by ESPN for their new ACC Network.

Le'Veon Bell's two girlfriends stole over $500,000 in jewelry from his Florida home and are now in the wind.

Maybe they can help Bell find the $500k in jewelry that was stolen by his two “girlfriends”. Seriously you can’t make this stuff up!

As for the GM search, by all accounts, it was JD’s job to lose. Going to miss him in Philly, but Howie always looking ahead, started hiring replacement staff to fill possible outgoing peeps Joe takes with him.

I was listening to Ryen Russillo's podcast last week and he had Kevin Clark from the Ringer on and Clark said Joe Douglas would be crazy to take the Jets job. He pretty much said it's the worst GM job in the league due to the uncertainty around when Woody Johnson will return as owner (and the changes he may make when he takes over) and the poor roster that Mike Maccagnan left behind. Clark said Douglas should wait because he'd likely be a top candidate for jobs after this season.

WOW, color me surprised about the Sanchez part above and how it didn't include the player but the handling OF the player. I have to say I totally agree although there are MANY dubious names that could been included, Browning Nagle being just one of the many to choose from.

You're saying this as if it's a done deal. It's the Jets...we have PLENTY of time to eff this up until he's signed, sealed and delivered.

I will say this though, they should have locked JD down a few years ago and could have by giving him the GM role, but Howie wants to be out front and won't relinquish the spotlight so this is somewhat (if not all) on him.

Agreed, the entire fan base is PRAYING that Woody stays far, far away from the franchise when he returns and lets Christopher handle it going forward, but we'll see. That being said, the Jets are FAR from being a poor roster and that's not just lip service from a fan...there is most certainly some good to excellent talent on the team. Anybody that says as much has not clue WTF they're talking about but that's par for the course from all the talking heads out there.

It could be a stepping stone move, if he takes it. Plus for some of these guys, the lure of completely turning around a franchise is too much to pass up. I hope they chose someone else.

Not at all. Howie is many things but a power monger he is not. He’s been a longtime friend of Lurie’s, which is how he got in the organization. He already stepped aside once for Chip Kelly, then again when Douglas was hired.
Philly has a three-pronged approach to their personal department: Douglas is old school, Berry is their analytics guy and Howie bridges the two.

Hard to turn down a GM job. Might never get another opportunity.

Fair enough, but what I guess I don't understand then is why they blocked him from interviewing elsewhere a few years back if they didn't have him in mind for a GM role with PHI in the future? Guys aren't gonna wait around forever if the org plans to go in a different direction.

Because they could. Now they can’t keep him from interviewing. He basically is opposite Howie, and now Berry. Titles are a dime a dozen. It’s all about input and to a lesser extent money.
The organization isn’t going in a different direction.

A team can only block someone once (asking seriously)?

By different direction, I meant someone other than JD not a different direction altogether.

Not really sure how the whole blocking interviews process works.
They did. I’m sure the powers that be knew there was a good chance Douglas would leave after the draft, which is why they hired Berry. I’m guessing they will hire someone else to replace Douglas should he leave.
Basically after Kelly took total control, and was fired. Lurie didn’t want that to happen again. So they incorporated a Front Office by Committee approach.

Blake Bortles was a very solid QB in 2017, helping the Jags make the AFC title game and almost the Super Bowl. Blaine Gabbert, who was drafted 10th overall, was 5-22 as a starter and was traded after 3 seasons for a 6th round pick. Bortles was by no means a star and was a failure for 4 of his 5 seasons in Jacksonville, but his Jaguars career was nowhere near as bad as Gabbert's.

I would say being a bad QB that hurts a good team is more damaging than a bad QB playing on a bad team. Although for the article, the reporter focuses and draft status and reach.
