Sometimes it comes down to making the “lucky throws”, which he did...twice....against the greatest dynasty in all of North American sports. As for stats, he’s top ten in most of them. If you don’t like him, that’s certainly your opinion, but they guy is hall bound. That’s just they way it is. |

If Eli makes the HOF then Jim F’ing Plunkett deserves it too.
IMO if you win two SuperBowls as a starting QB you belong. |

Eli will make the HOF but he shouldn’t. Seems like a nice guy and I’ll always be grateful that he stole two rings from Brady, but he had all the help the world to do so. Definitely not a first ballot, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get in within his first five years of eligibility.

all this bs about him acting classy? what, for refusing to play for the team that drafted him? for forcing a trade before ever playing a game? and then going to a team and being mediocre? yes, refusing to play for the team that drafts you is the epitome of class. but sure, let’s act like he’s just been the golden child because his dad was a terrible quarterback in the 70s. but wow, he really accepted being paid a ton of money to sit on the bench this year. i don’t know how he did it? how did he find the courage? what a true warrior he is! |

Well if spurning your drafting team makes you classless for the rest of your life, we now have to throw in: John Elway, Jim Kelly, Bo Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Eric Lindros and half a dozen other guys.
Good news for Eli, most of those named are in their respective Halls. ![]() Someone must be a SD(or wherever they are now) fan and still salty after all these years. Because Eli clearly made the right choice. ![]() |

On the topic of Eli Manning... was there any point in his career at the end of a regular season when you considered him a top-5 QB in the NFL? For me, the answer is a clear no. This is a big problem. I don't believe a guy who was never a top-shelf QB for any period of time should be in the HOF. Just being really good, never great should not be enough. Even Donovan McNabb was a top tier QB for a time, and isn't in the Hall.
I realize he won two Super Bowls, but he also missed the playoffs in 10 of 16 seasons, with zero wins outside of the 2 SB runs. Fact is, the Giants typically missed the playoffs in part because he was never elite. Let's be honest, if his last name weren't Manning and he had the same career stats and accomplishments in a smaller market we likely wouldn't be considering him. This. I know QB's of Namath's era put up numbers vastly inferior to today, but even by standards of his own era his numbers were mediocre.
173 TD, 220 Int, 50.1% Comp Rate, 27,663 passing yards, 65.5 passer rating, led the NFL in picks 4 times, only 15 career comeback wins Outside of that one Super Bowl run (just two games), he made it to the playoffs only one other time in his career (a loss). Namath's career passer rating and completion rate were both a bit below league average. |
