Patrick Mahomes was the first league MVP to win the SB since Kurt Warner did it in 1999. That’s a 23 yr gap, it’s become sort of a curse.

not taking away anything from Lamar at all but he has emerged because there is just no clear cut frontrunner this season.

MIA losing Bradley Chubb to a torn ACL

….less than 5 yds/1 TD difference. If the 49ers weren’t sitting their starters this week, they could’ve very well passed them.

Yeah, I can see how the ref could have gotten confused in that moment, but the explanation by Referee Allen and him saying (paraphrasing from his quote) that based in the tackle position to how they lined up made him ineligible and thus would have been illegal formation since he was reported should have been a red flag that something wasn’t communicated (or he misheard) correctly to him. I mean why would Detroit on the most important play of the game report someone that would have been ineligible based on how everyone is lined up.

So, is team W/L record really going to determine MVP?

Lamar - 29

Total Turnovers

Dak - 10 ✅
Lamar - 13

All too often, people focus exclusively on passing numbers. Definitely good to see rushing stats factored in as this is where Lamar stands out in the MVP race. He's the 20th leading rusher in the NFL, with >800 years and 5 TD's.

Lamar is a near lock for MVP now, but I'd still put Purdy #2, ahead of Dak.

A down year for Mahomes and KC, but I can easily see them sliding through the AFC playoffs yet again.

Lamar Jackson’s 2019 stats (MVP yr):

15 gms 66.1% 36 td 6 ints 3,127 pass yds; 176 att 1,206 yds 7 td 6.9
y/a

2023 stats:

16 gms 67.2% 24 td 7 ints 3,678 pass yds; 148 att 821 yds 5 td 5.5
y/a

Almost everything is down this year and he played in 1 less game in 2019. Like El Rey said, no real standouts this year. Plus, Lamar just had his best game of the season with two weeks left so it will be fresh on the minds of voters.

PIT to start Mason Rudolph vs BAL in Saturday's season finale
Gets even worse for Pitt, Apparently Kenny Pickett refused to backup Rudolph lol

Quote:
There’s trouble brewing in the quarterback room of the Pittsburgh Steelers. That is if you believe Pittsburgh media personality Mark Madden.

Madden posted on X this afternoon that a source told him, “Pickett 100 percent refused to be the backup.”

This makes so much more sense right now as to why Kenny Pickett was inactive leaving Mitch Trubisky as Mason Rudolph‘s backup in the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Adding to the intrigue, Madden said the Steelers writers know that Pickett refused but won’t write about it.

If what Madden stated is true, Pickett needs to take a good, hard look at himself. He’s not earned the right to have this entitled stance, nor has he earned the right to step back in as a starter over Rudolph — who’s played the best ball of his career.

No CMC (calf strain) for the Niners in week 18, a lot of starters not likely to play much, if at all

Harbaugh says its unclear if Lamar plays in week 18

putting all this together, looks like the MVP goes to Lamar, maybe even co-MVP with someone else whether its Dak, CMC or Brock

But like you said MIA still has a good chance to finish #1.

Its like james franklin with penn st
Nobody cares that he always goes 10-0 v purdue, rutgers, north dakota st tech
They just care hes always 0-2 vs mich & ohio st
Thats also the baggage that comes with being a qb
Too much credit when you win too much blame when you lose.

But now mvp voting is 1 thru 5 with pts 10-5-3-2-1.
Theres 50 voters so that 1,050 total pts.
To have a tie with all those pts is almost impossible.
