Can someone please explain cutting Garrard? Nobody can can Gabbert or McClown give the Jags a beeter chance to win than he can. This move is a joke. Gabbert could be very good one day but he should not be playing right now.

Pretty much Del Rio's style. Even before Gene Smith took over as GM. His best move of course was getting rid of that Byron Leftwich guy. Otherwise, cutting Brunnell, and Garrard during his era will probably catch up to him at the end of this season. I wouldn't be surprise if Del Rio is fired in the middle of the Season since I'm thinking this is another rebuild year for us.

Also if you listened to the press conference, Del Rio stated that he wasn't playing well during the preseason, and money was not an issue. Shit, McCown was playing against 3rd string defenses majority of the preseason

Just another excuse to use Luke McCown and 1st Round pick Gabbert. Ultimately this is going to cost Del Rio's job since we are NOW in desperate mode.

McClown sucks bigtime. Gabbert will be starting by week 4 - take it to the bank. I'm thinking the Jags go 5-11 or 6-10 this season. Bet Del Rio doesn't last the season.

Not only that, but its pretty shady they let Gerrard go the week the season starts, and delay him in finding a new team & learning a new system....

I know, but he will get picked up shortly though especially after week 1. Maybe SEA, or MIA per NFLN.

If I'm a team like Washington I pickup Garrard right now if the contract is workable. I mean on what planet are Rex Grossman and John Beck better than Garrard? It's not even close. There are at least a half dozen or so teams with a worse starting QB than Garrard.

I'd take Gerrard over Campbell in a heartbeat.... Heres to hoping Raiders pick him up, we still have about $5mil cap space to work with as well...

Just looked it up and Garrard is halfway through a 6 year $60 mill contract. That's quite a bit higher than I thought. Also didn't realize this but read it on wikipedia. Never knew he had Crohn's.

3 teams have already contacted David Garrard, but his agent will not disclose the 3 teams just yet, per NFL.com.

Garrard will be in Miami soon enough. Maybe as starter right away, maybe not. Pete Carroll will not go for him after saying Whitehurst was so good then getting Tarvaris saying he was good too.

Carroll deserves some credit, he's the only guy really giving guys shots to play. Even if they don't pan out, at least they're getting a chance to try.
