I would have preferred Reggie Nelson, but our secondary just got a much needed upgrade anyway.
Richard Marshall was garbage with the Panthers, was garbage when he went to the Cardinals. And now he will be overpaid garbage in Miami.

No Tebow in Jacksonville. I'm sure MaCruz is very disappointed...
Meh, I'm giving full support and attention to Gabbert for just one more year. Henne is going to replace "McClown".

Saints signed OG Ben Grubbs, formerly of the Ravens, to a five-year, $36 million deal

Quote:
The deal includes a $10 million signing bonus, and $16 million "fully guaranteed." Grubbs provides the Saints a soft landing after they lost LG Carl Nicks to the Bucs, but at a surprisingly steep cost. Grubbs landed just $11.5 million less total money, and will average roughly $2 million less per season. Grubbs graded out as Pro Football Focus' sixth-best left guard in 2011, but Nicks was significantly better in both run and pass blocking. Nicks is also more than a year younger. The Ravens will likely now focus on signing free agent Evan Mathis to replace Grubbs.

A source tells FOX Sports' Alex Marvez a deal between the Bills and free agent OLB/DE Mario Williams "should be getting done."
Williams is meeting with the Bills for the third straight day Thursday, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter that "no team is willing to offer as much money as the Bills." By nearly every account, Buffalo is ready to make Williams the highest-paid defensive player in league history.

Free agent tight end Jeremy Shockey wants to come back to the Giants, where he spent the first 6 years of his career, but former Giant Amani Toomer thinks that's a bad idea:

Quote:
Amani Toomer ‏ @AmaniAToomer
@garymyersNYDN No!!Shockey"I will never play4 you again!"he yelled at jerry Reese in 08. Let him keep his word. Bad teammate, worse person.
He later reiterated what he said and said he wouldn't be removing the tweet.

Quote:
@MortChristenson @mikegarafolo don't worry about it. My tweet is not going anywhere. I stand by what I say.
Per Pro Football Talk the Giants have no interest in Shockey even at a minimum salary deal.

Shockey has responded with a shot at Toomer:

Quote:
Jeremy Shockey ‏ @JeremyShockey
@DonaldLongo @amaniatoomer yes remember when his ex divorced him and he urinated on a her cloths I guess he's the good person

Slot receiver Danny Amendola has been spotted in Boston and there is speculation that he is visiting the Patriots. Amendola is a restricted free agent for the Rams and if the Patriots signed him it would cost them a second round pick. Amendola missed almost all of last season with an elboy injury. If the Patriots signed Amendola I'm curious what would happen with Wes Welker. Amendola's skill set is virtually identical to Welker's so it's possible the Patriots would consider trading Welker or letting him go after the season (assuming he signs the franchise tag). Regardless of what happens with Amendola I still think the Patriots need a deep threat like Mike Wallace or Brandon Lloyd.

The Patriots also are scheduled to have slot receiver Anthony Gonzalez in for a visit tomorrow. Gonzalez would likely be fairly cheap after only playing 11 games in the last 3 seasons due to injury. They also have safety LaRon Landry scheduled to visit tomorrow.

No one yet, some expect a decision today, my guess would be Tennessee or Arizona.

With the way the Patriots are, I think they NEED to sign Mike Wallace. Yeah you could possibly get a great player with that first round pick, or you could go with the sure thing in Wallace and be the most dominant offense in football. Then use the rest of your draft picks for all defense.

The Bills and Mario Williams have reportedly agreed to a deal and have a press conference scheduled for 1:30. No word on the terms or length of the deal.

Edit: It's reportedly a 6-year deal. No word yet on how much the contract is for but it will make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Sounds like the early reports were just that, shortly after free agency began it was said the Bears were out of the running. Williams got a 6 year deal per Schefter and it's said it will dward Peppers' record-breaking $84 million contract.

I never believed the Bears were going to get Mario. That would just be too expensive a defensive line considering how much Peppers is making. In addition it hasn't been the Bears defense that has been a problem, it's been their lack of an offensive line and receivers. They may have improved their receiving game but they've done nothing to upgrade their terrible line and until they do they won't be a true contender. They also need to get Forte locked up with a long-term deal because I see him holding out into the season if a deal isn't reached.
