Trust me, he cant cover. I had to watch him all year since Beason went down. That guy couldnt cover an offensive lineman running down field. He's a pretty decent run stopper though.

I'd put him on that level if he could stay on the field. The guy is constantly injured.

He isnt the best cover guy but James was terrible in coverage so he cant do worse but he is a great run stopper. Also Lee is a great cover guy for us so we will be ok between the tandem. Its great to see these two guys play together again. Got Em!!

He definitely has trouble staying healthy. Weird injuries too. I think 2 or 3 years ago he went on IR with a chipped pelvis bone? The guy never gets common injuries lol.

So it's wrong that the Cowboys and Redskins spend too much money in the uncapped year, but there's nothing wrong with the Buccaneers only having a 2010 payroll of $80.8 million, the Chiefs at $84.5 million, and the Jaguars at $89.5 million?

I can't stand the Cowboys and Redskins, but these cap penalties are pure crap. There was no salary cap, so if they wanted to spend that was their right (regardless of whether Goodell engaged in conclusion to try to keep spending down), just as it was other teams right to go $30 million+ below the previous year's salary floor.

Peyton Manning update:

From NFL.com reporter Jeff Darlington:

Quote:
Peyton Manning personally contacted Dolphins on Thursday to advise them he wouldn't be signing with Miami, multiple sources have told me.
From Mile High Report:

Quote:
A plane tied to the Broncos and Pat Bowlen, the same plane that took John Elway and John Fox to Stillwater, OK last week, the same plane that traveled to Miami to pick up Peyton Manning last week - the same plane that is NOW scheduled to fly to Raleigh, NC this morning. Manning has been in North Carolina visiting with Duke coach David Cutcliffe and was picked up and dropped off from North Carlina when he visited the Tennessee Titans.

It's pretty safe to assume Denver got Peyton. I figured it would be Miami, then Marshall left and I can't even name the next WR on the roster. I never really counted AZ in the running. They paid a high price to get Kolb (trading away Rodgers-Cromartie) and it would be insane to cut him so fast. He had 1 bad year due to injuries and no one is sure Peyton will be 100%.

The Titans have Locker and he did pretty well sitting behind Hasslebeck then starting. Give him some time to earn that draft position.

Denver has to be considered a serious contender if they do land Manning. Their defense carried them into the playoffs and beat the Steelers when they got there.

I wouldn't say it's a sure thing that Peyton's going to Denver yet, but I would agree it's down to them and Tennessee. Just because he's working out for Denver first doesn't mean he won't work out for Tennessee too.

I honestly don't know why Peyton would choose Denver over Tennessee. Tennessee is much warmer than Denver and I would think that would be a factor after playing in a dome his whole career. I'd say the Titans have much better receivers than the Broncos. Demaryius Thomas has never shown he can stay healthy and Eric Decker is nothing spectacular, and there are rumors that Decker's injury he sustained in the playoffs is much more serious than the team says. In Tennessee you'd have Nate Washington who is coming off a breakout year, a very solid tight end in Jared Cook, and the return of Kenny Britt. I'd also take Chris Johnson with a full training camp over a 30-year old Willis McGahee. Denver has a better defense and the division is somewhat weaker but I still think he could be more successful in Tennessee.

Oh I have no doubt more offensive talent is in Tennesse, but Manning generally doesn't need it. Whoever he's throwing to will look good. Considering everyone assumes that the Jags would trade for Tebow is Manning signs with Denver they could easily get a good WR to supplement what they already have.

I think what it will all come down to is, does Peyton want to play the Colts 2 (or even 3) times a year for the rest of his career? They may be bad without him for awhile, but it's still where he's been for his whole career and he loved that whole organization and fan base.

I'm just so, so happy Manning is saying "no" to Miami.

Playing Brady twice a year is bad enough, the AFC West can have Manning. We don't play that division this year. So did Miami deal Marshall because they thought it would improve their chances of signing Manning? Or did they do because of his issues/cap number?

I would imagine they did it because 2 3rds is a nice deal and because Marshall is never going to grow up. He should put up nice numbers catching from Cutler again though, assuming Cutler can stay upright.
