Yes its true

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that an agreement between the NFL and NFLRA is at hand.

With a deal in principle reached Wednesday morning, the regular officials could be back as soon as this week. All it took was one of the worst calls in league history in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football. The issue will hopefully be put to bed now.

Yeah supposedly the players were pressuring the league to bring back the real refs, only took 3 weeks of really upset players, fans and coaches for this to happen. Hopefully we get a nice ironclad 10-15 year deal so we'll all be much older by the time this becomes an issue again.

I know the Packers were talking strike, they were possibly going to take a knee every down next game.

my 2 cents:
  • now that the refs have agreed to terms with a new contract, watch, when the regular refs make a mistake, everyone will scream "we paid them too much!"
  • TJ Lang needs to shut his mouth. who is he? why does he keep talking? isn't he one of those awful offense linemen who's going to be responsible for their quarterback getting killed? how about you practice some more on the field and leave the "tweets" to someone who can play their position?
  • i can almost guarantee we will never see or hear from the ref (that called the TD) again. i mean, that Redskins wide receiver gets DEATH THREATS because he threw a ball at a player and "cost" his team a precious week 2 game, what in the world would happen if that ref gets spotted on a city street? ouch.

u can't blame the guy for being pissed....that call ultimately cost them the game.

and i know, they had to play 59 other min., but they were winning until that bogus call was made.

I'm hearing NFLRA negotiator Scott Green has notified officials that a deal is not imminent. Stay tuned, obviously.
I trust King more than any other NFL writer, and until a definitive deal is announced I'm in "I'll believe when I see it" mode.

I was reading up on that ref who signaled touch down on MNF and apparently he's a banker. His highest level as a ref previously was community college and high school football. There's an amusing photo of him at a club supposedly taken Tuesday night where he's posing with a woman wearing a Packers jersey.

Instead of a "fixed" dollar amount, perhaps fines should be given out based as a % of your salary . . . . . A Day's salary, A Week's Salary, etc.

They were winning because of a different blown call.

For all we know if every call was correct Seattle still wins 7-6. For all we know if every call was correct Green Bay wins 70-3. There were far too many blown calls to decide that this one rules all. I mean we are talking about a game with 24 flags. That's unheard of in the NFL.

This one is just so huge because it happened with 0.0 on the clock, and is particularly egregious.

good news...

The regular referrees make mistakes too, but not as many as these temporary ref. I guess it should be better...., but I expect to see the regular ref to screw up from time to time like they do every season before LOL.

If that ref has a Twitter account, then he and his whole family would have received death threat already. There are just too many crazy people in this world... Even players get death threat when they cause the game....

I've always thought that it should be a percentage as well. It doesn't make sense that when Ndamkung Suh makes an illegal hit he gets fined $25,000, which is pennies to him and his $60 million contract, but when an undrafted free agent making $550,000 makes an illegal hit he gets the same $25,000 fine, which is a large portion of his salary.
