Another interesting sign of parity this year is comparing the SOS rank up with conference rank.

Team - Rank - SOS Rank(1 = easiest)

NFC
Atlanta - 1 - 1
Chicago - 2 - 5
San Fran - 3 - 7
Giants - 4 - 3
Green Bay - 5 - 13
Seattle - 6 - 8
Minnesota - 7 - 6
Tampa Bay - 8 - 2
Saints - 9 - 4
Dallas - 10 - 16
Detroit - 11 - 9
Arizona - 12 - 10
St. Louis - 13 - 14
Eagles - 14 - 12
Wash - 15 - 11
Carolina - 16 - 15

Green Bay is the only real outlier here, and they should be even better (stupid replacement refs).

AFC:
Houston - 1 - 9
Ravens - 2 - 2
Pats - 3 - 7
Denver - 4 - 13
Indi - 5 - 3
Pittsburgh - 6 - 1
San Diego - 7 - 4
Miami - 8 - 6
Cinci - 9 - 5
Tennessee - 10 - 14
Jets - 11 - 15
Oakland - 12 - 10
Buffalo - 13 - 8
Cleveland - 14 - 11
Jacksonville - 15 - 16
Kansas City - 16 - 12

Biggest outlier here is Denver, w/Houston being the other major outlier.

When most teams are this close in Rank to SOS that just screams parity to me.

I dunno, maybe nobody else is interested in this but I found it fascinating. Typing this up gives me more respect for Green Bay, Houston, and Denver.

Buffalo's game Thursday night is a must win for us. All of our remaining games are. If want want to make the playoffs, we have to win out!

I guess it's going to take a playoff win for the Falcons to get any credit.

Look at those bad AFC teams... they also get the roughest schedule, poor guys can't get a break.

It's really a bit misleading. Think about it. If you're 8-0, your opponents instantly have 8 losses. If you're 1-7, it's 7 wins.

It's going to take more than one win. They have a loaded roster and one of the best quarterbacks in the game. I believe they can go on a deep playoff run, but they need to get it done. An early exit and Mike Smith will take on a lot of heat about his job security.

He shouldn't. Why do people ignore that their 3 playoff losses were to the NFC Champions? And the last 2 to the Super Bowl Champions.

If they get bounced early, which I hope doesn't happen, Mike Smith will be in a lot of trouble.

So they can go hire an unproven assistant somewhere? Who available is better?

With an early exit, you don't think his job is in jeopardy?

This year? No. I don't think you fire a coach who is 51-21 with more games this year because they lose to better teams in the playoffs. I mean, seriously... the 3 teams they've lost to in the playoffs are 11-1 during those postseasons.

If it happens often enough you do. Winning in the playoffs is all that matters especially in today's sports.

Marty Schottenheimer
Mike Brown
Byron Scott X 2
Avery Johnson
Grady Little

Just a few who had successful regular seasons and were out of job immediately or a short time afterwards. In Scott's case he went to Finals two years in a row and was out midway through the following season.

Haha the Jets implosion continues

Jets teammate says Tim Tebow can’t start because “he’s terrible”

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-hes-terrible/

Granted they've had devastating injuries..but they are 3-6.. the whole team is terrible

Word is coming out that Greg Jennings may be back on the 25th for the Packers

Quote:
Player notes Mon, Nov 12

WR Greg Jennings talked in the locker room Monday, but the veteran standout was mum about when he will play his next game. "I have a target in my own mind," Jennings said. "It's in my mind. (But) I'm going to keep it right there." Jennings is recovering from surgery he underwent Nov. 1 for a lower abdominal tear. He has missed the last five games after aggravating the injury in the Sept. 30 win over New Orleans. Jennings said he was told by specialist William Meyers, who performed the surgery in Philadelphia, that he would be able to "run full speed" three weeks after having the procedure. "I'll be able to open up, run full speed," Jennings said. "He didn't say I'd be pain-free in doing so, but I'm pain free (now), so ... " Jennings isn't sure whether he would be cleared to play after the projected three weeks of recovery, which could make him available for the Nov. 25 game at the New York Giants.
