The Bears hired Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman as their new coach. Trestman spent years as an offensive coordinator in the NFL, including with the Raiders in 2002 when they made the Super Bowl.

Former Saints interim to the interim head coach Aaron Kromer will be the Bears offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Chip Kelly to the Eagles is a terrible fit. The guy despises any interviews and criticism. Not a good idea to take a job in Philly of all places. He'll be back coaching college football within 2 years.

It seems like the boosters didn't want him back. Everybody that flirted with NFL got an contract extension, I didn't hear anything about Chip Kelly getting one or even taking about one was in the works. Oregon must feel real confident that they will still win with out him. Imo bad move for both parties, or in least he knows that Oregon is going to get hammered from the NCAA. So he pulled a Pete Carroll .

While it's true that the boosters for the most part disliked Kelly it didn't really matter because Nike chairman Phil Knight loved him and he's more powerful than all the other boosters combined. I think it may come down to a belief that Oregon is going to get severely sanctions from the NCAA because I don't see a reason for him to leave now after saying a week ago that he was staying.

Apparently so...

The Eagles have hired Chip Kelly as their head coach.

The Eagles pull a rabbit out of their hat, landing their No. 1 choice ten days after he reportedly "decided to stay at Oregon." Expect the contract numbers and organizational power to be gargantuan, but it's fair to wonder if Kelly received new information regarding potential NCAA sanctions in the last week. Regardless, the Eagles' next trick will be finding a quarterback to play in Kelly's innovative, up-tempo, spread scheme. It's already been suggested by people close to Kelly that incumbent Nick Foles will not fit. Perhaps Michael Vick, previously expected to be cut within the next couple weeks, will be willing to return with a massive pay-cut.

If he pulled a Pete Carroll ill be so pissed, I'm sick and tired of these coaches leaving and the schools getting punished because the coach doesn't run a clean program.

The NCAA schools should honestly post something in contracts saying if you leave the program dirty you are forced to repay X number of dollars a percentage of the contract you had signed.

Great hire. Sucks for My Alouettes though. At least we didn't lose our GM... yet. If Popp goes then we're really screwed.

LOL Seriously?! These schools are aware of what the coaches are doing. To act like the coaches are acting on their own is very naive. You think USC didn't assist Carroll in his practices? Or Oregon with Kelly's? They are all in it together. Whatever it takes to win....

I don't see Oregon getting hit too hard by the NCAA. I also don't see Chip Kelly succeeding in the NFL, has he ever coached at the professional level? I don't believe so. Like Chad said, in a couple years he will run back to college ball.

dammit Kelly! you had a great job in a great part of the country! and you left it for... Philly and the east coast?!?!

this looks SUPER suspicious since he turned down the job 10 days ago.

what changed?

and i think i read a few weeks ago he just bought / built a house in Oregon! granted, when you have millions, who cares if you waste some on a house, you can always build a new one, but come on!
